Since those were genetically engineered dinos, after being in the ocean for a bit, they sprouted fins & flippers to adapt to their new environment.

The original gave me nightmares when i was little, can still remember the dream. Was stuck in a huge pipe on its side at the playground near me, and the T rex was on the other end and it was pouring with rain. Like a recreation of the scene where the kids are stuck in the car with the T rex outside
