    Question Help: Replacement cable wire diameter for lat pull down

    Was given a lat pull down with 300lb stack for free but it doesn’t have a cable wire. What diameter should i get considering the load?

    3/16? 1/4? Less?

    My Legend Fitness lat pull has a coated steel cable diameter of 3/16” with ~4” pulley

    A Legend belt squat machine I have has a 1/4” diameter uncoated cable on a ~4.5” diameter pulley

    This. I've always found the easiest thing to do for replacement parts is to contact the company that made it. You can definitely find cheaper options, but I'm not DIY enough to try something else.

    What size are the pulley's?, as I understand it, the diameter of the pulley determines the thickness of the cable, a 3/16" cable is rated for many times the load generated on a typical weight machine, thousands rather than hundreds of pounds.

    7x19 wire rope, 1/8" coated to 3/16".
