from awareness, to creative thinking, to quick thinking etc. obviously every sport requires intelligence to know when to do this or that. Which do you think requires the most?

Rugby, hockey, and boxing come to mind. If we are talking intelligence and not athleticism than golf may have a place in the discussion as well.

This. A lot of it all boils down to natural talent, thousands of hours of experience, etc. I don't think even the top golfers are doing math, I think they go by feel/experience. Sure one or two athletes in a particular sport may be intelligent. But I don't know of any sport that's intelligence based.

Going to go with 15's rugby or polo.
Rugby
- Strategically placing yourself in the best position to move forward by passing backward
- Oh yeah, you can pass backward, grub forward, or punt away (more if/then situations to run through mentally)
- Processing where nearby defenders are on the field to brace for hit
- Also just processing the sheer fukton amount of people on the field.
- Does not provide constant start/stop opportunities of football. Game is constantly in motion
- All of the above essentially makes the game Human 4D Chess
Polo
- The pass/score/defend strategy of hockey but there's a 900lb animal between your legs.
- There's a fuking 900lb animal between your legs.DCA'ing FXS since Sept2022

Do you realize how much nfl players study? Every play is scripted and memorized, and hours are spent trying to find tenancies in other players and figuring out how to counter an exploit it. Thats why so many QB's with extraordinary arm talent flame out of the league quickly. Can you be good at football if you're a dumbass? Yes, but I'd argue the same for any other sport
