Oh I know all about the Pentatonic/blues scale garbage he played. I do play guitar and I'll take Andy Timmons, Michael Lee Firkins, Nick Johnson, SRV, Eric Johnson etc over him ( I literally could go on for days with more creative players)
Creatively he did nothing new, look at it musically, not what his engineer Eddie Kramer was doing. brb some I IV V progressions omg really pushing that blues form FUKKIN LOL. Pseudo musician fanboys like yourself :"omg but what about when he was adding the major 6th to his soloing omg he invented dorian!"
get on my level

I actually agree with OP, this goes with 90% of musicians back in the day. Nowadays musicians are more talented since there's a technical side as well. As technology advances musicians advance. Chit, even a 10yr old can download music software and compose a better melody than Mozart did with his keyboard. Music is made differently now and takes a lot more than just playing an instrument.

Your logic is flawed. What he was doing at the time was new. It is isn't uncommon for chord progressions to be recycled, this happens all the time. The entire blues genre uses the same chord progressions as its foundation, and the musicians who use the progression aren't "garbage" and uninspired.
Hendrix influenced the style of many musicians, you listen to today. Don't be a pretentious cun t

So did black sabbath but i dont see everyone jocking Tony Iommis nuts. Hendrix wasnt anything special.even if you search all people say is he was innovative, no reasons, just that hes innovative. All he did was use a wah and distortion which at the time was uncommon but still not something he created, he just helped popularize it. He didnt change the way people play guitar like van halen or someone modern like Tosin Abasi. he didnt make a new genre Like Sabbath did. Hes a case of someone who died at their peak and was immortalized through his fans and thats why hes considered great. Its like a death halo effect. Look at Nirvana or Pantera. Same chit.

Black sabbath and deep purple were part of the first wave of heavy metal. It started with them and evolved from there. How is that in any way trolling?
Also i didnt contradict myself. Everyone states hendrix is great because he was innovative, i disagree. I think hendrix as a guitar player is better than Iommi, but i think Iommi and sabbath did more for the future of music and had a bigger impact.

Worst thread ever posted on the misc. Negged for life
No, it started with Hendrix and tracks like Voodoo Child (Slight Return). They, as well as almost any other prominent guitarist, were clearly influenced by Hendrix. You're making some pretty ignorant claims here boyo.Last edited by UnclRuckus; 10-15-2017 at 01:33 AM.
Without the internet i feel like a small rock on the mountain.
I don't really want my posts on the internet tbh ... I'm just legit addicted to posting ... people become addicted to the internet look it up

Just lmao@ any guitarist that doesn't release a masterpiece of technical and musical mastery at the age of 17 and then get a neurodegenerative disease a few years later than renders them incapable of moving one muscle in their body but still creates insane music in their mind and then makes it reality with their fuking eyes...
Also didn't read thread but i bet it's people saying Hendrix was more creative and had more feel, but remember that you can be creative and still be technical, those two go together very well and the technical window is very, very low for guitarists like Slash, Hendrix, Jimmy page etc

I had a dream Jimi Hendrix came back to life. Everyone rejoiced, but it was short-lived for he wanted nothing to do with the guitar. He told people that his real passion was baking. Nobody believed him. The world turned against him. So, he opened up a small, comfortable bakery off of 112th and Amsterdam. He was very flamboyant, but made the best pastries and cakes. The smells were intoxicating. The colors of the fruit filling in the blintz were so vivid. The tastes were the most delicious. More delicious than anything that you could imagine. Jimi had done it. Slowly over time, he built his business up, franchised it and he won back the hearts of those that had hated him.

Bullshiet brah Dimebag is one of the best examples of being over glorified because of his death.. I didn't know him until a few years later when I started playing (like 2007) but I've heard and read a chitload of people saying the same thing, after he died his popularity exploded..
I guarantee you that had Kirk Hammet died it would have been the same thing but he's known as the wah wah pentatonic abuser now lol.. Still think Hammett is a way better guitarist and songwriter than Dimebag.. All Dimebag wrote was a few good riffs and the Cemetery Gates solo which is amazing..
