Pioneer Pioneer Pioneer! Can't go wrong with strangs, phantoms or the lilliebridge wraps. The strangs and phatoms take quite a while to break in though. Liliiebridge wraps are a bit stretchier so might be more similar to the outlaws.
Now that I've become an IPF kunt I miss squatting in real wraps.

Why the switch? You can lift single ply in almost any fed. No competition outside of IPF and affiliates around here, but even then they are still mostly raw.
I'm probably going to buy some of the lilliebridge wraps. I do a lot of my wrapping myself so it can't be too stiff.

yeah im getting to where I need to warmup a bit now.
Pre squat just takes a little bit and helps a ton.
Been doing:
100 jump ropes
mcgill big 3
"glute bridge"
90/90 stretch
leg swings
etc, then some lunges and whatever, but it doesnt take any time and helps me a lot.YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/NorthStrongSC

So I've been telling you guys my backs been messed up, I think I told my story in the last thread but anyway went to the chiro today and god do I feel great. He's a physical therapist/chiro so he did a lot of stretches and deep tissue work to me before the adjustment. Also The gift of injury book I ordered came in today so I'd say it's a step in the right direction!

I think you have to win Nationals. And to go to Nationals you need to hit a QT at an open meet to go to Regionals and Provincials, and hit a QT at either one to go to Nationals (for new lifters). The QT's are pretty low here, but to get an invite to Worlds I think you gotta finish top 3.

Speaking of the IPF, I'm doing my first IPF affiliated meet in Dec. What the hell is their policy on t-shirts? Like do I have to wear a t-shirt with an approved logo? Cause **** buying an SBD/LVD/A7 horse**** shirt.

They've sent some great and some not as good lifters to opens and juniors lately. I think ya boy Martin has a shot
Bro I'd quit lifting if I had to buy any of those. I wear a plain regular t-shirt. No V-necks or pockets or collars
edit- Just watched a CPU nationals 2017 video because I know CPU is more formal than USAPL and plenty of people are wearing plain, Inzer, whatever type t-shirts.Last edited by Torrtrefireto; 10-24-2017 at 07:31 AM.

I'd have a shot if I was still a junior but starting next year I'll be in open and there are quite a few lifters way stronger than me. Maybe in a few years I'll have a shot given calgarybarbell doesn't move up to 120+.

Yeah but we met that one time like 10 years ago though
The barrier to compete at the world level especially in Canada seems huge. You gotta do a local meet, travel to provisional, travel to nationals (right? I might be wrong here. If you are strong enough can you just skip the first two?), then travel to worlds. Even if there are 2-3 guys better than you doesn't mean they'll show up every time or be able to afford to go to Sweden or Taiwan or wherever else771/645/622 Single Ply

Not sure if that's how you've always pulled or not, but it looks like you're arching the weight off the ground rather than using your hips and legs, you're just using your erectors, then once the bar is moving you extend at the knee, and looks like your hips aren't doing anything.
Your back position (ideally) shouldn't really change after initiating the pull. Just think of your torso as a rigid structure that isn't supposed to move, and the legs and hips will create the movement.
edit
bar also looks far away from shins, should be at the shins the whole way up, or at least closer. Looks like you have good hip flexibility, but you'll probably need to bend over a bit more which you probably are reluctant to do because of your back issue, but it'll be a better starting position.
Sumo doesn't necessitate a super upright posture, look at Dan Greens sumo starting position. It's fairly bent over, but he's in a powerful position.YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/NorthStrongSC

Yeah this is how I pretty much have always pulled. What do you mean when you say I'm arching it off the ground? I always try to stay upright because I thought it helped with the back issue you think it'd be better if I arched more? Also I think it might be the socks, I usually have pretty messed up shins from keeping the bar so close.

Your hips could start a bit higher and get involved right from the start. But I wouldn't try and compare to Dan Green. Leverages/lengths/etc based on hip starting point will determine back angle as long as you're positioned right to get the hips involved in their most efficient way.

Yeah I just meant that as an example to try to convey that depending on your structure you might have to be more bent over in the start position.
