And Phil is a horrible champion.
Why do I say this? Because this board is dead. WTF happened to this board? I used to post on here actively between '06 and '09 and the "IFBB" section never had as many dead threads as I'm seeing now. Threads going back to last month with a last response on the first page? SMH! Mr. Olympia right around the corner and this section is dead! SMH!
This never happened when Ronnie was champion or even when Jay was champion. Sad how the mighty have fallen.

What does the IFBB have to do with a bodybuilding forum?
Bodybuilding has evolved to multiple categories, i.e. physique, classic physique etc. And there are many more organizations in the world than just the IFBB.
But to say that forums are dead or whatever is highly overstating. Fact of the matter is that forums were the first social media platforms, dating back to the early 90. There are plenty of forums that attract a ton of people and good conversations, if you look around you know who they are. If forum owners are smart, they know how to use social media to their advantage, attracting visitors and conversations. BB.com has moved away from the forum idea. I was looking for the forum navigation link the other day and I couldn't find it!! When I did find it, it said "forum: supplements". It's obvious that they want the conversations to be about supps, because, understandably so, that's where they make their business.
There have been plenty of good forums that went down, even before the era of social media, and there are plenty of forums (bbing and non-related) that are thriving right now! It all comes down to how the manager of that forum is handling it.
Have you tried to have a decent, normal conversation on instagram about nutrition or training? It's very limited and almost always ridden with trolls and spam accounts that try to get followers.
My opinion, if you want to actually learn something from someone, and get to know people in a COMMUNITY, forums are the best avenue!!
It's up to us to bring this board back. Start posting!! Olympia is 2 weeks away, plenty of topics to discuss!

This forum has declined because it isn't apparent enough on the website's navigation.
What does Phil Heath have to do with the IFBB's supposed "decline" ? That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
The IFBB is growing, whether you like to admit it or not. It's a fact. They are expanding in more countries, with more shows, more athletes and more categories than ever. Some European amateur shows have hundreds of competitors from all over the world.
Do you read the IFBB.com news at all? You should in order to form an educated opinion, rather than just lashing out irresponsibly just because you don't like Phil Heath.

There is a correlation to draw, however, I'd be willing to argue that it's a decline in quality.
If everything is now limited to 1 sentence long Instagram posts, twitter posts, etc., it surely limits the depth of the discussions that are had, and it limits the passion the sport would potentially harbor.
We would regularly have walls of text, with graphs, videos, going back and forth for pages and pages.
Going from that to solely having "ramy's gonna beat phil this year! #facts #grainymuscle" / "you dumb moron, big ramy for the win!!! #hateralert", is definitely bound to raise some suspicion about the state of the sport.
A lot of bodybuilders are no longer in the picture, and a lot of traffic is moving onto Physique or Classic Physique divisions, not to mention the traffic that moves onto to celebrity-Instagram-bodybuilders.
Maybe I'm wrong, but there surely is something going on.

The quality of the physique in open bodybuilding are partly to blame. Phil Heath is not an all time great bodybuilder. He's just a product of a historically weak era of bodybuilding. His greatest competition was a guy that was blackballed by IFBB judges and the people with influence in the sport. Dexter is too old. Ramy and roelly don't know how to dial it in. And Shawn has no back.
I was initially skeptical of classic physique and actually against it. But as more and more people gravitate to it the physique there are getting better. Bumstead, ruffin, timms all have physiques that are great and comparable to bodybuilders of the past. But they don't get the appreciate it recognition because we view things from the past through rose tinted glasses.
Aside from the poor physiques in open bodybuilding the political part of bodybuilding has turned people away. Sadik placing well in classic is a joke. I'm a rhoden fan but he was gifted his placing last year. It seemed like Dallas was being groomed to be the next Mr O despite having a weak back, he was always gonna get a favorable placing. Branch for years placed higher than he should have.
There's a million things wrong about the IFBB but none of it is gonna change. Could care less who wins open bodybuilding this year. The guys at the lower end of open bodybuilding look better than the bloated messes that are winning shows.

Some good posts for sure.
-Quality is down in physiques
-Different mediums such as reddit, instagram, youtube being useful
-More kids idolizing frank zanes, zyzz, buendia
-People like genova, piana being followed by more people than former mr.olympias or current title holders
-Main members of this section like me being at different parts of our lives(work, family, maybe kids- this one is strictly for this section)
-To add to that, former moderators doing a bad job and turning people away from here or not getting rid of the a s s holes when they could haveLast edited by Gorky88; 09-08-2017 at 09:10 PM.

There was a cycle of arguments in this section and if you were here for 1-2 years you would have already discussed every issue.
Cycle (becomes boring) + lack of new enthusiastic non-trolish members = "death" of the section.
That is how i see it."Kai's traps outsize him, when you compare them to the rest of his body, he's very very thick there, it makes him unbalanced." - Lee Thompson

Has nothing to do with the IFBB and bodybuilding. This forum is dead because other forms of social media have taken over and the admins messed this forum up.
For one, removing IFBB from the title was the first time I noticed the section started losing traffic. Also, messed up navigation etc. Also, bb.com not really caring to highlight/promote the section in any way. Or at least have cool mods like that one guy a few years ago who everyone loved lol.
But yeah that's basically it.▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩۞۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
