Some of the theories out there make my eyes roll so hard that it actually hurts.

Before Season 8, I could never really stand Dany much, but between Sand's in her vag and Aryanime, she is comparably almost more bearable now. And in all fairness, I feel at least a sizeable portion of the blame goes to the directors and writers who would rather betray a character's entire identity if it made "good tv."



Tolerability notwithstanding, all three have been exemplary of a failure to "show, not tell," which is rather frustrating to watch because it's like being talked down to as a viewer, as though we're all too stupid to do something as obvious as rewatch the series and take note of how there are all these blanks being casually filled in by exposition after the fact, if that.

Alongside the Sansa and Arya examples above, Daenerys is constantly being hailed as this great savior, merciful leader, and ruler of HOPE, with characters reminding us nonstop how she is the one who changed their minds and gave them something to believe in - despite being a demonstrably naive, obstinate, power-hungry, destructive, and all around horrible goddamn leader.

Related to the above are notably absent or underwhelming interactions or revelations which can only be explained by prior conversations having already happened offscreen, and I think that this will only creep up more and more as an intrinsic "skip" button as a compromise to reach the rushed resolution.

Unfortunately, the writers'/showrunners' priorities favor lazy cock jokes, love scenes with a cockless side character, or "we could escape here for a thousand years and nobody would find us!" Every one of those is anything from a wasted line that could have had meaning or impact, a scene that would have amounted to more than just implied cunnilingus, or several minutes of engaging dialogue between characters that move both the overarching narrative forward alongside the individual characters' mentalities, motivations, and states of mind.

Yup. I made the point a long time ago how far-fetched it is that Cersei even became the ruler. She has zero claim to the throne, and it's ridiculous that the lords and peasants would have ever supported her. It's one of the major leaps in logic that the show has consistently been making for the last couple years.

I'm not sure how realistic it is, but I believe Cersei rule by fear. The fear of her own ruthlessness and malice (which she has shown multiple times), and the fear of what Daenerys represents; mad king, raping dothraki etc...

Agree to disagree. We've had great moments and episodes in the past two seasons, e.g. Jon's ressurection, Hold the Door, BoB, R+L=J full reveal, Spoils of War all were well done to me. Nitpicking the entire scope of the show without ever putting forth a plan as to how it gets done in the parameters that D&D have to work within just gets my goat. I hate when my employees or colleagues bitch without offering solutions based on budgets, time, and even labor.

I blame George for all of this as he created this story outline in 1992 with the first book published in 1996. It's been 25 years and even he who has no time or resource constraints cannot finish the series yet.

Because he himself has most likely lost the plot. The whole series became massively bloated over time and there are simply far too many plot threads going on. And the TV show doesn't even have Young Griff, plus they have killed off Dorne and Highgarden.

Cersei really should have been offed in season 7.

They could have easily made it a point to show that when the NK left his mark on Bran when he was sperging out and removed the Children's barrier in the cave, also removed the magical wards of the Wall and made it crumble in places or whatever. I mean the whole barrier breaking down was shown, why not show a scene that it fuks up the Wall as well?

Edit: Watching that video (I haven't seen it mentioned much ITT, at least I don't think) I agree with them that Dany's increasing haughtiness and curt remarks are intentional, not simply an 'SJW plot to show a powerful woman', it shows her slowly becoming increasing entitled and reminiscent of her brother.

In contrast to Jon, who takes people disrespecting him on the chin, and just repeats his reasoning and then issues an order. Dany is getting close to demanding people submit their minds to her.

I've seen this mentioned second time in this thread and it makes no sense unless you're talking about just the Night King and the Ice Dragon.

We can see from the preview for episode 2 that they're prepping for battle at Winterfell. We know episode 3 is the biggest battle in history of film and most characters in GOT in one spot(that would be Winterfell right now). Unless you think they're jerking us around with the preview and reports.

Its obvious they are playing up her burning Sam's family, which is not something someone caught in a fight for the living vs the dead should be doing. They need the support from every lord so keeping them alive should have been the only option.

They are also building up some animosity between her and Sansa. Both of them have similar histories but Sansa has pretty much been the underdog the whole time barely getting by while Dany has pretty much had everything handed to her without ever having to do much. Dany got the best looking men on the show, cities and dragons thrown at her feet. Sansa got raped by psycho killers and married off to an ugly dwarf.

Plus we know by this point the story is really about the stark kids. I think they are setting Dany up for a huge fall. I would imagine if Jon lives he and Sansa will end up together at the end. But I can also see Jon dying to save the realm and Sansa getting the Iron Throne. They already set her up to be Queen in the North.

only thing that made the trip worth is was Jamie left for winterfell after. so hopefully Jamie has a huge role in defeating the NK. Bran knows he is super important to the story apparently

The whole Arya vs Sansa bullchit last season, for example. The way it was executed seems like that the writers originally planned to actually pit them against each other but then they scrapped that and went with the "it was a ruse all along to fuk over Littlefinger". It felt really forced and out of place, and Arya's accusations were especially retarded and hypocritical. I mean, they only had to deceive Lf, there was no point showing them throwing chit at each other IN PRIVATE.

This season we already got the "b-b-but you bent the knee after we named you King in the North, you're not my king anymore" drama. They know it very well that the dead are approaching and Jon is uniting everyone he can, but now he actually managed to do that and doesn't give two chits about titles and whatnot he's a meanie. We already have more than enough conflicts, what's the point of this one?

Am starting to become convinced the battle with the Night King is just a red herring, and will be wrapped up by ep 4 (if not the end of the big battle in ep 3).

Predicting Cersei becomes a wight and basically the Night Queen and has the undead Lannister army & golden company as the main baddies for eps 5 & 6.
