Several people have mentioned that there is no Night King in the books, but I've just realized that there sort of is
In the books the WW are called the others, and there is in fact a "Great Other"
The great other is the god of darkness, cold, and death in the R'hllor faith. his true name is never spoken, and he is the sworn enemy of the lord of light
Melisandre refers to the others as "the cold children" of the Great other. Furthermore it appears in the books there is some setup that Bran, the old gods, and Bloodraven (the previous 3ER) are all champions of the Great Other:
At the Wall, when gazing into the fires, Melisandre sees a wooden face, corpse white, a thousand red eyes, and a boy with a wolf's head beside him. She thinks to herself that they must be the Great Other's champions, as King Stannis is hers. [3]
Further evidence in the text ties the Last Greenseer, Brynden Rivers (bloodraven), the Old Gods, and Bran Stark to the theme of darkness that draws The Great Other into opposition with R'hllor. The vision of Melisandre pointing towards Bloodraven and Bran as champions of The Great Other is corroborated in this exchange:
There he sat, listening to the hoarse whispers of his teacher. 'Never fear the darkness, Bran.' The lord's words were accompanied by a faint rustling of wood and leaf, a slight twisting of his head. "The strongest trees are rooted in the dark places of the earth. Darkness will be your cloak, your shield, your mother's milk. Darkness will make you strong." [4]
Just some food for thought - it really bolsters fan theories.**Georgia Crew**

I rewatched it another time.
Let’s go to the Crypt they said, it will be fun they said.... how did that get overlooked by all the characters that know they can RAISE THE DEAD.
I think for this episode to have been better, they should have had the NK kill off one more big character, and one of his generals to also kill off a big character such as Brienne.
the last time we see Brienne, Jamie, Podrick, Sam, and even Jon they were in situations that would be impossible for them to survive. They all would have been overrun. I would have been more satisfied with the outcome of that episode if nearly every character had died actually. Theon would have been overrun within 20 seconds as the wights approached, and he would have not survived that long. There’s just too much of **** like this in this episode.
They should have made the White Walkers the focus, instead of the battle with Cersai and taking the throne. Just let the White Walkers destroy the stupid humans for fighting over our stupid iron seats while there is a bigger threat to us.Last edited by JustiNtense; 05-02-2019 at 11:17 AM.

Guys... Guys... Guys...
I've never argued that the NK was helpless.
The pause was for drama.
It's a standard part of film/TV making, pausing a moment to create ambiguity.
In TV/Film time, it was only a moment or 2. But in real time, the moment is held on screen to create a sense of ambiguity in the viewers.
If you we had pure realism, and no moments filmed for dramatic effect, Jon Snow would have died in the battle of the bastards.
Also, like I said, from his perspective she was rendered a non-threat. He had her by her throat and wrist holding the weapon. Theon was literally charging at him with a spear pointing at him.
Think back... When the White Walker was approaching Gilly's baby, he knocked Sam away as a non-threat... He didn't even bother killing him.
Also when Theon was stood crying and Bran spoke to him, the Night King didn't charge forward and kill Theon. At that point Theon wasn't an immediate threat.
Why did the White Walker fighting Jon slowly stalk him whenever he knocked him down? Why didn't he just finish him off?
Dramatic effect, and also... The White Walkers and Night King have the same kind of consciousness as Bran, and look at how non-chalant and weird he is.Last edited by BetaAsPhuck; 05-02-2019 at 11:24 AM.

Glad i didnt read through any reddit 'theories' aka spoilers posted in here. Learned that the hard way years ago. Must be your guys' first rodeo in a misc GoT thread
I have not given up faith in the show writers. They will tie this all together beautifully in the last 3 episodes. Haters will be eating crow.

It was a throwaway account on this forum - he linked a subreddit which prides itself on including spoilers. The script leak for season 7 was posted there, as an example. I reported the post, hoping a mod removes it, and posting links to freefolk in this thread should be (imho) bannable too. It is a deliberate attempt to chit on the fans of this show.

So tired of hearing this excuse. Strategy doesn't work when the bad guy has one weakness, it is in plain view with no protection due to his halter top armor, and best of all NOBODY knows that is his weakness or where on his body it even is. I was more on board when she just stabbed him and he died a la Jon Snow vs HardHome WW. But when the show runners come out and say that she had to have stabbed him in that exact spot it ruins any credibility for that scene.
