It was an amazing episode.

It was so obvious at the start of this season that white walkers gonna lose and its gonna be Battle with Cersei at the end of the season. Not sure how you could see it any different.

For me it always felt that GOT was more about Iron Throne at the end of the day than the white walkers.

Arya killing NK was legit IMO. Her character kept building throughout seasons to be more and more powerful, so it is not really a surprise that she killed NK. I would be more disappointed if they went generic way where Daenerys or John Snow kills NK.

I'm re-posting this from a few pages ago because apparently most people are too low-IQ to realize that Bran is the Night King. They became one when the Night King touched him.

It would take pages of explaining to do, but basically when Bran was warging during the battle he was leading the Night King to his location. Bran wanted to kill himself to wipe out the memories of this world because of his Three-Eyed Raven status, but due to being crippled he was unable to do so. The only thing that could kill him was the blade of a white walker. Once there the Night King was hesitant to kill him which is why he proceeded so slowly. Arya's intervention was something Bran didn't foresee, and the message is that our fates are not set in stone and can be changed through willpower. Just like how Arya defied all expectations regarding her journey in life by picking up a sword as a girl.

Bran also greensighted back into the past to warg the Mad King to carry out genocide against the people of Westeros because of his hatred of humanity. There are many other examples of Bran greensighting characters in earlier episodes, but it would take too long to explain them all.

Seriously hope you're trolling, there is 0 evidence of this and TONS of evidence to the contrary.

This. I was surprised that the NK died like he did, but looking into it and reflecting I do like it even more. GOT is about who is gonna win the crown/throne. Yeah the background always had the NK problem, but I only cared about who was gonna "win the game".. glad that we have 3 episodes of almost 80min each to decide this.

I have mixed feelings about this episode.

The battle scale was HUGE, the quality was slightly above average.

Some may laugh, but my PERSONAL #1 thing I disliked about this episode was the music.....it was atrocious to say the least, it didn't convey epicness, or despair, or sadness, nothing it did nothing for me, it was probably the worse music to a battle scene I've ever seen.

I have no problem with Arya being the one who kills the NK, it was amazing foreshadowing from Melisandre when she says "you will close many eyes, brown eyes, green eyes......blue eyes".

I have many questions that this episode left unanswered, but the biggest one is WTF was the whole Azor Ahai prophecy??

was it all BS? was the prince that was promised Arya?

Music was one of my favorite parts of the episode

Was really annoyed at the stupidy of the episode (the ending really, the rest I can live with and is just on par with the averageness of the last two seasons once they got behind the books) but then I realized what is coming next year. A prequel.

And in the prequel they can address, explain, show all the motives of the night king and lead it to a point that when it connects to Game of Thrones it doesn't feel like a completely rushed ****show like it did last night.

So yeah, HBO is tying people in to the prequel to understand the motivations behind the Night King. I think we are done with him and will learn more about them in another show.

It's hard to be maximally shocked by death's when they all happen at once... or if those deaths happens within a grander scheme.

If there was just an entire episode about one char, and they died... you'd feel the impact on a much greater level.

If they they within an episode that has a grand scheme it won't impact you as much.

Wrong, it's hard to be shocked by "deaths" when the characters die hundred times over, i lost count how many times Brienne, Jaime and especially Sam "The Mountain" Tarly should've perished.

At this point, I think it's safe to say that the Night King himself is just a tool created by D&D for the sole purpose of being the only way to stop the dead. He doesn't exist in the books. I don't think George ever intended to have a Night King.

To be fair there is a reason the faceless men cost so much to hire. I don't like the idea that she's completely unstoppable though. There have to be limitations on any character or what's the point.

Idk, it just feels like there's 2 Aryas. The one we all know and love, who is an actual character that we care about with vulnerabilities, weaknesses, and the room to grow. The other is the cold, heartless, assassin that is one step short of being the god of death. I don't know what to make of it.

Maybe you are only interested in good-guy vs bad-guy scenarios? This show has had a few "build-up" confrontations that didn't turn out like we thought it would. The Stark family was full of them.

Plus, the producers stated that they've planned Arya to be the NK's doom 3 years ago. That means you were thrown off the show's true intentions. I didn't hype myself over any confrontation I would've liked to see only to be disappointed (learned that after Ned Stark).

For someone like me who hated Arya and especially hated the season she was learning to be a faceless person because I thought it was too much just so she can kill people on her list,
Hated her so much I wanted her to receive all those ass-whoopings from blonde jealous girl. I even hoped that she was killed and it was really blonde girl using her face.
After yesterday, it all makes sense to me now, and Arya makes sense.

I'm not sure I understand your point? Jump scares serve the purpose of shocking the audience, but they don't have any lasting emotional impact. The Arya killing blow is basically a jump scare. "Haha, you didn't expect Arya to jump out and kill the NK! We got you good!" That's now how this works D&D.

The only thing that will hold the show together for me now is if Bran keeps the mystery going. I already think I know how the political scheming will turn out so that part doesn’t hold as much interest for me now.

What if next week in Winterfell someone says “the Great War is over. Now we must prepare for the last war” and bran pipes up from his wheelchair in the corner “it’s not over” and the scene cuts to King’s Landing for the rest of the ep? That would be intriguing.

I’m not expecting it to happen with such short time left, but Bran’s TER **** is the only plot line left unfinished for me and he’d better remain mysterious af right til the very end. If he starts talking normally now and there are no more twists from him, the show is over IMO.

Season eight, Jon Snow. Falls hundreds of feet out of the sky on a (dead? dying? injured?) dragon. Pops onto his feet unscathed. The night king raises the dead around him. These enemies were established in earlier seasons as absolutely terrifying. A single wight almost kills him and Jeor Mormont, and Jon almost loses the use of his hand to kill it. He is now surrounded by possibly thousands of them. Yet he lives.

Not only does he live. He runs through the entire army of undead without a hiccup, and then faces down an undead dragon alone. Let’s give him a pass? Dany has a literal flying fire breathing dragon. Then Dany is surrounded only to be saved by Jorah ****ing Mormont. Wasn’t he just trapped fighting for his life in winterfell? I mean does an army of tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of wights mean nothing? He just ran through miles of undead to be at the exact place at the exact time to save Dany? I could go beat by beat through the main characters and every single one of them should have died several times tonight. I’m not saying I want them all to die or that they should have story wise, but don’t put them in that position if you aren’t willing to follow through with it.

Come on. Game of thrones is supposed to have consequences for your actions. Gandalf does the appear in the east on the third day. You can’t establish rules that you abide by for seven seasons to say **** it and throw it all out the window without it ruining it all. This episode had amazing visuals. Amazing music. An amazing set. Yet the storytelling was just awful.

The show has become the antithesis of itself. Everything that made the in show universe logical, captivating and exhilarating are gone.

It has become the storybook it tried so hard to subvert."

- at least arguable, they were pretty much unstoppable and have almost won. WWs are basically extensions of the NK, smarter, can raise the dead, but when they're killed, the dead raised by them also die

Just rewatched the battle of hardhome, steel works perfectly fine vs the undead johns sword did nothing different vs them either. Only time the glass/Valarian steel made a difference was vs the white walker

The lore is a patriarchy, there are a few strong female characters, but its mostly (and accurately) physically strong men when it comes to fights. When it comes to scheming, Little Finger and Tyrion were mentors to Sansa. When it comes to fighting, Syrio and Jaqen are mentors to Arya, etc.

Unlike with Disney/Marvel I never had the feeling we're getting some agenda pushed down our throats, so calm your tits.
