True but I kept waiting for him to do that anyways. Then he just leaves Jon to get killed by some anonymous wight like every other soldier.

I know he wanted Bran but that was disappointing for me.

I have a better ending, starting when the NK raised the dead when Jon is charging at him:

-Bran worgs into a dragon and burns that entire area of wights including Jon, revealing he is immune
-Jon grabs his flaming sword, surrounded by fire just him and the NK
-They have an epic one on one battle, until NK eventually bests him and disarms him
-NK about to kill Jon, THEN have Arya jump in and kill him the way she did

I think the biggest issue people have is that for such an immense battle and such an undefeatable enemy is that there was literally no sacrifice to win, a bunch of nobodies got killed. The stakes were literally zero. At no stage did it feel like there was any ending apart from the Night King getting done over and his whole army falling down.

No stakes, no suspense, no sacrifice, no deaths. It really needed to cost them a great deal but in the end it cost them hardly anything.

What if the Night King got his hands on Bran? No longer able to see the past? Would have been interesting to see if they had to balls to kill Bran (unless he somehow serves another purpose).

Where I'm left disappointed with is no Jon vs NK epic showdown. They've kinda set that up for awhile now. Would have been cool to see Jorah, Brienne and/or Jaimie fight some White Walkers since they have Valyrian steel swords. Instead all we got was endless wrights and the WW did jack chit.

Still enjoyed the episode and curious to see how the books differ.

I mean how does Hawkeye or Black Widow fight bad guys with powers and not get instantly deleted. It doesn’t really make sense for your main characters to die randomly in a charge. If you are a grunt or scrub then ya but generals or leaders are what they are for a reason. They are better fighters and have a better sense of whats going on.

This is not avengers, what made got great was that at any moment a major character could be killed. Yes Sam is a good fighter, good point.

Arya's arc had everything to do with protecting Winterfell and her family. As soon as the NK went after her little bro Bran, Arya's story arc was fully engaged.

Okay. Build up for that is 1-2 episodes? Meanwhile Jon was getting fukked in the ass by the Nk since the wildling rescue mission. Plus Jon was scrambling to save Bran in this episode too. He charged the NK to get to Bran. He charged a dragon to get to Bran. Brb, Arya gets the kill while Jon screams at a dragon. Uh okay, nice payoff? :/

How tf was his death built up?
I'm not buying that at all man. Arya's arc had no involvement with the white walkers at all. Her whole assassin plot was to end with her taking off people in her list, getting to Cersei etc. It had Jack all to do with the night king. She didnt earn that kill because again, her story had nothing to do with the night king.

I didn’t mean that Arya was always planning on killing the NK or that that was anywhere near her goal.... she literally just found out all about that **** it seems. My point was that everything around her led her up to that point and since the writers had it planned that way for years- then there’s probably more things that point in that direction that were missed if you rewatch it. Like her original convo with Melisandre. It was never meant to be John Snow but Arya goes back to winterfell instead of killing Cersei because she hears that John is back in winterfell. He wouldn’t be back in winterfell if red bitch hadn’t brought him back to life. BRB searching for some list that shows all signs that Arya was going to kill the NK. I actually thought she was building a weapon to kill viseryon.

Btw- I started reading the books, I am going to ldar if they’re not finished before I die.

I too was hoping for some major deaths... idk who though. Maybe semi major. I’m waiting for Jaime to kill Cersei next.

Even if you were right and it was 100 fighters it makes it even more absurd that all the main characters survived.

But you might want re-estimate the number in that army. I guarantee it will be replenished magically to tens of thousands again + Yara's ships etc.
