If Rich was conscious in any way there would have been some kind of news confirming it... My suspicion was they were wanting their privacy while knowing he probably wasn't coming out of this and were deciding when to pull the plug.

I'm pretty confident that the updates from his fiance were more about staying hopeful than anything else. It's pretty unusual for someone to be in an induced coma in the state he was in for 2+ weeks and wind up totally okay.
