I'm postjudiced (the opposite of prejudice - it's actually based on first-hand past experience) against streets named MLK Blvd. Have been on 12+ of them and it's ALWAYS a dicey neighborhood, not sure why they do it that way.

MLK in Austin is goes along the southern border of UT Campus. But I suppose it gets a Lil crappy if you cross the highway and go past the baseball field.

Urban decay and pot holes srs. City will keep the streets nice where the money is located; suburbs, gentrified areas etc. You start seeing riced out early 2000 Pontiacs, Hondas, Cavaliers, etc parked on the streets.

Trash everywhere
Street Hookers
We accept welfare signs
Teenage pregnancy centers, especially in Spanish
Hispanic grocery stores


Now in Los Angeles there are middle class neighborhoods that do have some of the things that normally would associated with bad neighborhoods elsewhere. Like check cashing places, fast food, off brand supermarkets etc

Boarded up houses
Old beat up cars in the yard
People drinking in their front porch
People yelling/fighting at any time of day
No lighting at night except for the closest gas station

A week ago me and a girl were walking to a gas station to get some drinks, found a hazmat suit in the top of a alcove and torn weave on the side of the street. Bulletproof glass on the side of a pipe shop too. Thing is 2 years ago I used to walk that street all the time to get to my exes house from my high school and everything was fine. Crazy how things can change so quick.

Also random trash poking out of fence links.

This is one that always tips it off for me and I don't understand it. They could just steal a normal sized bike instead of a child's bike. It would require roughly the same amount of effort either way. Drugs are a hell of a drug.

The MLK Blvd one is especially disappointing in Phoenix because it just received that designation like 2 years ago. They were probably entirely aware of the stereotype, yet still decided to designate 13 miles of pavement running through the second worst neighborhood in the city as MLK Jr. Blvd.

ANY areas that have "equality" or over state anything thing to do with race or immigration. Also "EBT, SSI, Welfare" attorneys offering no money up front services.
