What separates a NASM certification from others like ACE, other than price? It's seems with just taking a quick look, that ACE is half the price and the certifications are basically the same.

ACE and NASM are basically equal, it sort of depends on where you are. When I lived in Minneapolis, ACE certification was usually done as a class through either the university or the community college, so most trainers had that. NASM is more popular generally in my experience, but it's not "better".
NSCA is the superior certification, but if you don't have an exercise science degree you can't get it.

Both are good on paper. Most commercial gyms its an advantage if you work for a company .
