https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...ign/551843001/ATLANTA — A shocking and vulgar sign posted in front of a local business in Atlanta made it clear no cops are allowed inside.
11Alive's Faith Abubey talked to the owner of EAV Barbell Club in the East Atlanta Village neighborhood, who is not making any apologies for putting up the sign which has since been taken down.
"It was really just that the vulgarity in that sign, and that seems to bring it out for people," said Jim Chambers, owner of the gym.
While the sign is no longer plastered on the front door, Chambers said he plans to put up a new one without the foul language and still stands by the message it conveyed.
"We've had an explicitly stated 'No Cop' policy since we opened, and we also don't open membership to active members of the military," he said.
For Chambers, a lifelong political activist, the sign and policy is a political statement outside a multi-use space which serves as a gym, community gathering spot and meeting place for activists in the metro area.
He says groups who work out there are generally minorities who are uncomfortable with the presence of law enforcement agents.
The Atlanta Police Department would not comment on the policy, but told 11Alive News, "were we to respond to an emergency there, this sign would not stop us from lawfully doing our job."
"If they have a warrant, they can go anywhere they want, but we're not breaking the law," Chambers said.
What happens if Chambers or anyone inside the gym needs the police?
Chambers says they never have, and won't ever need the help of officers.
Lawyers say because law enforcement officers are not a protected class under the law, only the courts can decide if EAV Barbell Club is violating any anti-discrimination laws.

How can anyone be anti police? I don't understand that. You can hate police corruption, police brutality and even an entire department (for those reasons), but does this guy believe that there shouldn't be police at all? I've never understood that.
Brb, park across road and arrest criminals with warrants one by one as they leave. It hilarious when stuff like this happens. I have a friend that is on the police social media investigative team and he is a part of a local page called "Fukk (town name) Cops," he says they track people with warrants down so quickly with that group.Tobacco prostitute

Did any of you retards read the article?
The gym is filled primarily with minorities, who aren't very comfortable around the police. The police have agreed to still come in in case of an emergency. There is nothing wrong with not wanting to serve the police/military, especially with everything in the news now. I don't blame them.
Or, maybe, JUST MAYBE, a lot of people who work out there have been themselves (or have family) victims of racial profiling? Plenty of drug lords and people who participate in illegal activities work out in normal gyms.Attract toxic girls but I'm not toxic crew

Heres my guess, his wife or GF got banged by a cop so he bans them all. I used to go to this little rotisserie chicken place that was amazing and the owner would always come out and great us, give us discounts and drinks etc. It was high wife and daughter working and his wife was HBB legit columbian big booty. So one day we go in and boom, owner doesnt come out, wifes not working and no discounts. Found out later his wife got railed by a deputy...

COMPLETELY irrelevant, emotionally charged comment. Stop evaluating this situation with the assumption that people are trying to be "brought together".
Also, what is the ethnicity of Atlanta's police force?
Evidently not, because everyone in here is going off on tangents not even related to the article.
Anti authority has always existed. You're just hearing more about it now. Nothing will happen with this generation, nothing will happen with the next. Stop fear mongering.Attract toxic girls but I'm not toxic crew

Another moronic SJW/libtard approach to the issues. As a conservative, I have a LOT of problems with police corruption and will be first one to call out a cop on being a fukin arsehole. Having said that the solution is not to segregate the community from law enforcement. The solution is to open dialogue and a gym sounds like the perfect place to do it.
There is a distinct "us against them" mentality when it comes to certain communities and law enforcement. It's not without reason either, there is a lot of history there. But the solution isn't to provide a "safe space" for minorities. The solution is to humanize both sides to the other. Once we all see each other as human beings, the bad blood begins to thin. This gym owners retarded approach is part of the problem, not the solution.*** Dawn Patrol Crew ***

fukking LMAO @ all the people saying "psh good luck if you get robbed or vandalized getting any help from the cops" or "terrible business decision". All they would do in those instances is file reports anyway because the crimes are already done and nobody's tracking down gym vandals anyway.
I think it was a smart business move and will get a lot of anti-cop/military libtards to sign up there. Gym owner is clearly a smart businessman.

Admittedly, I'm white and have never been to Atlanta but I'd think the gym is a pretty "safe space" already. I guess I judge guys that come in with prison face tattoos but even then I'll chat with them. Definitely never seen anyone harassed by officers or anything there.
But whatever, as I said above, apparently it's legal and nobody cares about the moral example it sets for kids in that area.Tobacco prostitute

Ok , for arguments sake. Lets turn the narrative around.
Someone owns a gym in a white suburban family area, makes a sign saying " no minorities allowed" due to the community not feeling safe with them there, people have been victims of crimes by minorities, threatened or something along those lines.
Is that also acceptable?6'1 - 240lbs

Stop being a cuck.
Where did it say that THAT specific gym in Atlanta was upset with the divide between the community and the police?
Most of you reek of generalization and cognitive biases.
You failed to equivocate lmao.
