Stupidest thing I've ever heard, considering there's like a handful of people to ever walk the earth who could outsing Janis Joplin.
I mean if we're gonna set the bar low I can find many covers of artists outsinging the original, I'm just posting covers of songs I like.
Anyways...
I just remembered Sleeping At Last, who I think may be predominately a cover band has some amazing covers:
The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.
That's why grandma's apple pie rocks and yours sucks.
At least it will thunderstorm tonight, and we know how they feel about water. :)
^^^Racist police officer who also cries about how racism doesn't exist, also cries reverse racism and typifies the stupidity of the racist right, referring to black people as "they" and regurgitating racist stereotypes.

hnnng....have you seen them live? I saw them twice and they're fooking INCREDIBLE. I'm on RC too....but I got you also.
Wait....do you not listen to Tool or A Perfect Circle? Maynard has an awesome voice. If you're in the mood to experience a new album I would download Tool's Aenima album. It's absolutely my favorite album of all time. srs
Now I'm just going to be listening to my favorite covers all night.

there's a lot of good ones, but there's only one right answer here.
The greatest cover is this one : Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiiyq2xrSI0"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me." - Psalm 23

08-01-2017, 08:08 PM #45Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.

Dude I know. I've seen them twice as well. I seen them at the house of blues in Chicago and I was sitting at the bar and during white walls the everyone was jumping in unison when they're screaming white walls and the entire floor was bowing. I was 30 feet from the center sipping some beers and the entire floor was bowing. And their live performance is literally album quality, easily the most underrated band of the 21st century. Only band that even came close was Devin townsend.
Edit another top notch cover.

Only songs I can think of are that Schism and another one that I don't know the name off hand.
Either one of those are kind of underwhelming to me, the guy can sing (a little) but I don't hear anything in his voice that strikes me as remarkable in any way.
I'm definitely not downloading/listening to a whole album, me one song that you think showcases his ability.
This IMO is the gold standard for a rock singer:
Gravely voice with lots of character and soul plus range for days, and still shutting **** down at 60 years of age (which is remarkable):
The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.
That's why grandma's apple pie rocks and yours sucks.

I saw them at Nation in DC and I was right at the front of the stage. This was right after Alaska came out....they played fuarking Selkies and it was studio quality. It was a shame they were the bronze medalists on the tour and Every Time I Die and Bleeding Through had more stage time (fuarking yuck). I drove to Richmond to see them after Colors came out with my boys. That chit was lit af too.

Yeah that would have been incredible. They basically refuse to play selkies live now too so ill never get to see it. Ended up missing their full Colors tour earlier this year along with I believe the faceless too due to work. I'm still kind of butt hurt about that. Such a good band.
