Agreed, especially Inglorious Bastards made feel uncomfortable at times. Problem is Tarantino, while a movie buff, does not really seem to be that knowledgable about history.
He portraied his Audie Murphy-character really well.
This movie with him is pretty great and one of the few great movies, German cinema managed to produce over the last 20 years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_Bye,_Lenin!
Thought about putting it in the OP as well, but did not want to use too many examples.
Yeah his films are all weirdly overrated. They are all mainstream comedies.
I also think he can get pretty annoying.

Everything by Tarantino.
Guy is a douchebag cuck....and according to which an ensign might rank incomparably higher than a general, and according to which what was needed for success in the service was not effort or work, or courage, or perseverance, but only the knowledge of how to get on with those who can grant rewards, and he was himself often surprised at the rapidity of his success, and at the inability of others to understand these things

The Godfather
The latest star wars movies (absolute garbage)
Avatar (yeah I get it, its meant to be visually appealing but why should that excuse the sorry ass excuse that was the plotline and script, same boat as starwars, I was mentally checked out after 20 minutes begging for the movie to be finished)

Didn't know character was based on a real person, though should have guessed. He's just such a great little actor, good in anything he's in .. enviable grasp of different languages too (got a bit of crush on him lol, female - no homo).
Heard of Goodbye Lenin way back, but have never seen it .. will give it a watch thks.
Just realised didn't even mention Christophe Waltz; good thing about Tarantino, much as we could criticise, is that he does cast well (and he uses music very well).
One Will Ferrell movie worth watching is "Stranger than Fiction" - not his usual stuff and surprisingly good.Last edited by Maatkarah; 07-30-2017 at 12:51 PM.

Captain America Winter Soldier. Terrible joke after terrible joke with a dumb ass plot. Dont understands how some can call it a great movie, let alone a good one. Everytime i meet a fan of the movie I just have to ask what they like about it, because I just don't get it. Each time, they're like, "uh, you know, the action. "

Small holiday place outside Sorrento yeah, but didn't find it any different in larger places visited like Rome (suppose big cities/capital cities are never gonna be friendly anyway!).
They just seemed v exploitative of visitors/tourists at every turn and like they looked down on them, see them as lambs to be fleeced, an inconvenience etc. .. but I suppose Italy has one of the longest experiences of tourism & that could be a factor.
Will always have fond memories tho cause popped my cherry there (well, tried to) ... was up for it and the deciding factor was when the dude braked suddenly to avoid hitting a hedgehog on the road; I thought; "yeah, he's quality" lol
Visited up North (Garda/Venice) recently and they were a bit different.
Will add to list - woman outta Nurse Jackie's in that too, isn't she?Last edited by Maatkarah; 07-30-2017 at 01:15 PM.

i guess its just the same anywhere, if someone comes to holiday in your tiny town or village, youre gonna shake them down like crazy cos theyre just walking ATMs just cos you could show them a rock and make up a story about how the moors were here and the spanish were there, 50 euros please.
if a group of people are used to hustling foreigners like that, they will obv have a fairly low opinion of foreigners.Formerly HandBrah, LipBrah & FootBrah

In all srsness the tour company wouldn't go to Naples - we did Rome, Pompeii & Vesuvius, Capri etc. and when we asked about Naples, they said they did no tours there; it was dirty, unsafe etc. ... were they totally bullchitting?
Prefer countryside and little places over cities anyway so tiny place outside Sorrento was cool (Massalubrense/Marina della Lobra).
Been lots of places dependant on tourism and sure, they want your money but they're not quite so misanthropic .Last edited by Maatkarah; 07-30-2017 at 01:27 PM.

LMFAO no naples is bad, the outlying areas are the best to see if youre not in to like historical stuff and just wanna relax anyway
too much risk of getting kidnapped in the city tbh. like i said, foreigners = ATMs and in a city where camorra run chit, you have to be careful.Formerly HandBrah, LipBrah & FootBrah

History buff but not into gettin kidnapped/robbed so good thing they wouldn't take us lol
Isn't Naples where the 'boyz' (as we say in Ireland) did something with the rubbish/trash collection; like sold off/misused the landfill and left it all building up on the streets for months, with fkn rat colonies growing etc.?
