My dream is to run a business as a private fund manager and eventually dive into private equity as a small company who takes start ups to VC, so I am saving towards that. I understand it will take a while and probably a few small businesses first, but it's the reason I haven't tied it up into property, etc.

I currently manage a $50,000 (£39,000) asset portfolio (my dentist, a former banker and a chemical engineer have invested in it) and I'm hoping to grow that to a serious number one day. I promised the individuals a 5% risk-free return every year and in FY1, I delivered it in 3 weeks. But if for some reason that was to go tits up (there could be a slight economic downturn coming up and I will be shorting a lot), I need capital to compensate those who took a chance on me instead of going to experienced stockbrokers.

I might be FA, I might have little or zero success with women; but I certainly have balls and a risk appetite that will one day make an investment bank wish they offered me a VP position 10 years before they did...
