So either the article was written by some wildly mis-informed journalist or you are just extremely spoiled with over-the-top standards by living in Auckland all your life.
Curious: What other cities strike you as a 'definite upgrade' versus Auckland, that you'd be happy to move to?The more mass you have, the more ass you get.
The more cash you make, the more class you get.

*Socio-cultural environment (media availability and censorship, limitations on personal freedom)
*Political and social environment (political stability, crime, law enforcement)
*Public services and transportation (electricity, water, public transportation, traffic congestion)
*Recreation (restaurants, theatres, cinemas, sports and leisure)
*Consumer goods (availability of food/daily consumption items, cars)
Okay so you can go out and do what you want without getting shot, get around easily, lots of entertainment, and buy all the chit you need. What else do you reckon young people want? Not enough strip clubs? The cope is fuking strong if you don't realize a lot of these cities are GOAT.
Probably gonna move to copenhagen eventually. The only downsides are the chitty food and all the danish people, otherwise it's a pretty cool place.Without the internet i feel like a small rock on the mountain.
I don't really want my posts on the internet tbh ... I'm just legit addicted to posting ... people become addicted to the internet look it up

The harsh nature of winter breeds strict work ethic; the forgiving nature of tropical climates and ocean-side living breeds complacency and comfort. One is great for building great nations with strong economies, the other is not. Broadly speaking, that's why you see no paradise beach cities on that list.

There's a lot of places on that list with dull nightlife, cold weather, no beach, chit food, relative lack of hbb etc
That was my point. The ranking factors seem more geared toward what would appeal to a middle aged career man with a spoiled wife and kids
I would personally live in LA or Barcelona any day over Frankfurt or Zurich lol. I'm sure you'll have a good time in Copenhagen though it's a decent city

The metrics they use for these rankings are always retarded. Like public services rather than disposable income, public transport quality vs cost of running a car. They completely ignore levels of individual social/economic/political freedom. It's why these dysfunctional european countries always come out on top when in reality the only people emigrating there are 3rd worlders.

Singapore is ranked #25. Japanese cities are discussed below. Not sure why the article picked 23 as a cutoff, seems arbitrary.
https://www.mercer.com/newsroom/2017...ng-survey.html
Asia-Pacific
Singapore (25) remains the highest ranking city in the Asia-Pacific region, where there is great disparity in quality of living; Dushanbe (215) in Tajikistan ranks lowest. In Southeast Asia, Kuala Lumpur (86) follows Singapore; other key cities include Bangkok (131), Manila (135), and Jakarta (143). Five Japanese cities top the ranking for East Asia: Tokyo (47), Kobe (50), Yokohama (51), Osaka (60), and Nagoya (63). Other notable cities in Asia include Hong Kong (71), Seoul (76), Taipei (85), Shanghai (102), and Beijing (119). There is also considerable regional variation in the city infrastructure ranking. The highest-ranked city is Singapore (1), whereas Dhaka (214) is near the bottom of the list. The more mass you have, the more ass you get.
The more cash you make, the more class you get.

Auckland's nice if you have a good income but houses are expensive as fuk here. Average house prices are $942,717.
Much better if you're in your late 20's - 30's because there's chit all to do here
This is what $500 per week gets you to rent in the CBD
