got some saddle sores from Sunday's MTB ride. Today is Wednesday and I did a little 30 mile roadie shred. But didn't hurt as much but damn I'm out of shape. 16mph average speed over 30 miles and it was actually very difficult for me to keep that pace LMAO. fail.
Need to get consistent again so I'm not a pathetic *******.Spoiler alert; you die at the end.

I had absolutely nothing to do with it. Cheated by shooting the pics at my parents house where I no longer live. 4 Acre property of mature trees and ornamental plantings, pool, poolhouse, outdoor room with fireplace as pictured, etc . Although my parents own the house my gf and I live in now also haha.
Thanks brah! A pair would look pretty damn nice on that new Giant of yours¯\_(ツ)_/¯

*firstly, sorry for the pic heavy post.
brahs, so my Giro Vanquish finally came, it looks sick on me. real pics below.
How I want to look:
How I actually look:
helmet is going back. It doesnt help that my damn head is so big I always need a size large helmet. size large runs from 59 to 63cm in this, and my protone goes from 59 to 62 i believe, and it sits closer because no mips. The giro vanquish sits sooooo high on my head and without the visor it literally looks like toad from mario kart or the death star guys below lol.

Now i have 2 choices, look like a loser and at least be a fast loser with the giro aerohead. The helmet doesnt look bad it's just that I dont have a sick TT bike setup so the helmet looks pretty out of place. I'm also not that skinny (although i am fairly lean, not Erik lean but fairly lean) so i dont really have the cool TT look as shown below:
ORRRRRR
spend basically the same amount and get the sick new Met Trenta 3k carbon helmet which according to this video is as fast as the giro vanquish without the visor. So still not as fast as the aerohead by about 1 to 2 minutes over an ironman. BUUUT a lot more value for the money because I'm going to be able to use the helmet on normal rides which i do 99.9% of the time.
ignore the odd expression from mark cav lol
option rear head light. doesn't seem that bright though
fairly scientific test in the velodrome looking at a few road helmets including the trenta, vanquish, new aero poc helmet, and some off the shelf cheap helmet that is more aero than some super expensive options.

^^^ I would say get the Met Trenta for sure. I know 1-2min is a lot, but something you can use every day vs. the limited application of the TT helmet, unless you're willing to buy both, i'd get the Met.
I wear large helmets too and can confirm, they mostly don't look great on us lmao. My Kask looks okay but all my Rudy Project helmets look like mario kart like you posted¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Helmets are brutal. When I shopped for them last, I had no price limit so I would get whatever was the absolute best.... Well, every single one made me look like a dildo-head except Bern... Bern isn't exactly "cool" AT ALL for MTB, but literally every other helmet was a 1/10 for comfort/style.
Just awful.Spoiler alert; you die at the end.

Bern crew checkin in.
Does anyone else have a Garmin Varia taillight? I have to say it's worth the price of admission as a rear-view mirror when paired with Edge computer. It beeps when a car is detected if one hasn't been detected for a while, or when one is closing dangerously fast. Really nice on desolate roads. Allows you to ride on the best part of the road and be notified long before you can hear, that a car is approaching. Really enhanced my rides.

I used to be able to do megaspins/hitchhikers/hang 5's on my bmx bike all day.
Never learned manuals because they were useless for linking together other flatland tricks.
The balance point on manuals is a real kunt, and you should probably do them every day, even if it's just for 1 lap around the neighborhood in the evening.
I practice them at the trailhead as a cool-down after my rides now. I actually look forward to it! A fun little bonus at the end of the ride to improve skill.
This video is what inspired me to just cut out some time & learn it. It's soooo much fun when you finally lock it the balance point and just ride it out like a boss.
https://youtu.be/DZ873rA831o
My goal is to be able to do them all time, on command, on dirt, unlimited distance, around wide turns, etc. Still have a ways to go!
EDIT: my next skill challenge will be wheelies on my road bike. Lol! Should be intredasting.Last edited by HMFIC_BROWSIN; 06-17-2018 at 01:29 PM.

Thank you guys for the feedback on the helmet choice!
ya my protone looks reasonable, and ok then i think i'm going to do the trenta. that way i also dont have to worry about head position as well while riding
option 1: bike fit
option 2: spend 2 years constantly fiddling around with your bike fit because it still isnt fully comfortable. it is close finally now though. I wouldn't mess around given your disc issue though. Also your saddle might be fine but it just might be set up wrong due to the bike fitThink you of the fact that a deaf person cannot hear. Then what deafness may we not all possess? ~ Dune

It's that time of year for the heat and humidity brahs. Me and the gang did 65 miles this weekend and had a few get overheated and one actually throw up. We kept the pace fairly modest for us but the last 15 miles the heat really cranked up. We need to start leaving earlier to beat the heat even by a little.
