Just wanting an opinion from everyone. Would you guys go through the extra inconvience to goto a gym that is more powerlifting based than for say a commercial gym. This could involve travel, cost, and etc.

Yes, within reason. I'm about 1 hr 15 minutes down the thruway from a world class powerlifting gym. Much though I would love for that to be my main gym, it just isn't possible. Instead I split my time between a home gym and also drive 30 minutes to a commercial gym that lets me use chalk and do whatever I want.

depends on how close it is and also cost
if its more than 30 mins away - its a no from me
if its more than £40/month - its a no from me
luckily my current gym is an inbetweener - its got so many racks/platforms/specialty bars, but also a little bit of cardio equipment and a load of 'bro' equipment too - and is only like £20/monthcomp best - 358/237/375 (162.5/107.5/170) - BDFPA 75kg (165lb) class
gym best - 398/265/440 (180/120/200) - @ 78kg

Probably not. There are two commercial gyms that are 5 minutes away that provide adequate equipment that national-level people to train at.
That said, I ended up shelling quite a bit upfront for a home gym and didn't skimp on the equipment. I'm a bit over the amount of time I waste moping around while my pre-workout kicks in, getting dressed, packing my bag, etc.S: 455, B: 375, D: 545

I pass 3 commercial gyms on my route to my gym. Fortunately, it's only about a 15min ride to the gym I train at. But I never once thought of leaving that gym for one closer.

Both... I'm at a high-end comerical gym that is well equipped for Powerlifting and I train there alone 4 days a week 10min from home. Once a week I drive an hour to train with my Coach and Team.

Cost and travel are definitely 2 things that would be the deciding factor. I live in Oregon (until I move AZ soon) and have the Kabuki Lab over here. With that said it's a good drive there and the price is high for me so it's a no go. I have a home gym but will be breaking that down since i'm moving to AZ soon so i'll have to get a membership at a local commercial gym.
