Hi everyone,
I just have a quick question about running the ICF 5x5 program vs doing the Fierce 5 novice routine.
I understand that lifting isn't a sprint and it takes time to progress and see results, but if my goal is to progress as fast as possible, would it be smarter to run the ICF 5x5 program instead of the Fierce 5 novice routine? Based on all the reading I have done about each program, the ICF 5x5 program is a workout by workout increase in weight, where as the Fierce 5 novice routine is a week by week progression; therefore, it would be more beneficial for me to run the ICF 5x5 if my goal is to progress faster. Am I understanding this correctly? This may be a stupid question, but I just wanted to make sure.
Thanks again for taking the time to read!

Fast progression models generally do not have higher work volumes. Same goes for programs which focus primarily on acquiring basic strength and skill at key lifts quickly. You said in the OP that you wanted to move forward with strength sensibly but quickly.
It's not like this is anything new, or that trainees have not run higher volume 3 day full body programs for many decades. They do not generally make the fastest progress in terms of increasing load on the bar that way though. The most important aspect of weight training; whether for the athlete, bodybuilder, or average person is to better ones health and ability without injury. - Bill Pearl

Ok so I think I am going to switch from ICF 5x5 to Fierce 5 novice.
How many sets/reps of chin ups should I add to each session?
Also, is it acceptable to just back squat 3x5 each workout instead of doing front squats on workout b? And can I do a regular conventional/sumo deadlift instead of Romanian deadlifts?
