Built my friend a mid range PC for about $1k-1100 CAD a while ago. Gtx 960, i5 6400 or something like that. Had to sacrifice some parts cuz he wanted the H440 razer case and we live in Canada so..
Anyways he's considering selling and thinks he can sell it for more than he paid because the prices of the now very outdated parts went up in price... just like the ridiculous prices on my old 3570k and 1155 mobos. I sold my old PC for way less than those 2 parts alone.
Tried to tell him that's not how it works. lolヾ(⌐■_■)ノ♪ I was part of the 2016 Ultra Thread Crew ♪ (‿ˠ‿)

In the past, every PC I built I sold for more than I paid.
Same with my monitors.
It's weird because with the crypto market right now, GPU prices are up, but evidently the demand for everything else went way down.
Ohwell lol. Traded my $1500 PC for some batteries and sold them for $2800, so now I can start building a new, lower powered setup+++ Positive Crew +++

Newcomer to this thread... had no idea this existed!!! I've built 4-5 gaming rigs in my life... freakin love it.
Will post current rig soon... definitely not my most impressive one ever, but it's solid. Will be upgrading soon...
Still, has decent items:
GTX980 (one for now)
i7 4970k
16g RAM
Dual Samsungs SSD in RAID 0 (512 total)
Liquid Cooling (Corsair Xtreme)
etc....
Here's it's guts...
Notice the roof-mounted radiator... THAT was hard to do, honestly, but I was insistent on having a setup with air venting OUT for easy cleaning (all I have to do is wipe the interior panels on the radiator to clean the dust).

I'm looking for a specific piece of tech and i'm not sure if it exists. Help me find it.
I'm looking for a [displayport/hdmi in, displayport out] switch that supports 4k@60
similar to this but also with hdmi in:
https://www.amazon.com/LINDY-Port-4K.../dp/B00ZK2S71W
(i'm fine with the hdmi in not supporting 4k@60, I just need the possibility for the displayport in part to support it)MS, Computer Science

Just built a new setup
asus-e z370
i8700k
gtx 1080
16gb ram
and EVGA AIO 240
in a corsair 460x
went from a 3 monitor setup to a 49'' samsung chg90
i think 32:9 is just too new and only 1080p. will probably return after using it for the last couple weeks.
first new system i've built in almost 6 years
how much do you guys think a GTX 960 can sell for, or an i5 2500kLast edited by Chynaman; 03-27-2018 at 08:35 PM.

It's a part of my house that was supposed to be a kitchen but the construction of it was discontinued a long time ago lol
Its quite comfortable gaming and looking at my fish tank while the game is loading and seeing my little monsters. The only thing that's not comfortable is the lack of AC.
You have a good eye. yes it was actually going to be a kitchen but the construction was discontinued so I made it my computer space instead =p
It may have actually been a functioning kitchen once upon a time but I do not know. Its already like that when I moved in.Last edited by M0nsterB0y; 03-28-2018 at 09:20 AM.

Lol if you had the ducky, I'm not sure how you'll be happy with other brands.
I have the Corsair K70 RGB with brown switches and been using this since 2015 and been great since then.
Not a ducky but I think for gaming, it will feel the same as long as you have the same switches that you are used to using.Steam - jinda28

Im not super up to date with the current cpu hardware. I see the 8700k posted alot as the or one of the best cpus. Im sitting here with a 6700k, havent overclocked it yet,not sure if its even worth to upgrade. The numbers confuse me, didnt the 4k series hold on longer? Bought the 6700k 2 years ago and we are already closing into 9series wth.

Depends on what you use your PC for but you honestly don't need to upgrade that yet. I still even have my 4790K lol.
New CPUs are coming out. AMD made a comeback last year with their Ryzen CPUs pushing Intel to improve a lot also.
Ryzen 2nd gen is almost out (I think) and the 9th gen Intel maybe summer. A lot has happened in the CPU market. AMD released their high-end Threadripper CPUs aside from the regular Ryzen and Intel responded with their X series on top of the regular 8th gen.Steam - jinda28

Hey brahs
Is it a good time to build a computer right now? I know a lot of parts are going up like crazy due to miner *******s. I’m running a old setup i7 2600k with some upgraded parts throughout the years ( 970 ssd, etc etc) games still runs smooth ( med- high on newer games @ 1080 lol. I heard after going with a higher refresh rate monitor is life changing.
My budget is $ 2.5~3k including monitor. I am in no hurry build, at least have everything by the summer. I am planning to have a reliable system for years to come
