I'm pretty sure his martial arts/combat training makes him a "deadly weapon" in the courtroom. If it was just a normal guy who beat on his wife, it probably would not have been life. Also so many of those charges are trumped up. Attempted murder? Attempted kidnapping?

None of this was pre meditated. He showed up to her place, there was another dude there, he lost his chit in the moment and beat the chit out of them. Crime of passion. He's clearly a danger to himself and anothers but LIFE for a non premeditated crime of passion/beating the **** out of your ex? 20 year sentence, out in 10 of good behavior seems more reasonable.
