New to here, as well as this type of training. Just wondering what I need to do specifically to gain muscle and weight, as I have a fast metabolism.
Already looked at weight-gainers, and have asked several people what to do. General reply is to not buy commercial weight-gainers, but buy my own. I am considering buying some whey (possibly "impact") protein and filling it up with oats and milk, as well as eating porridge.
So, yeah, that's my initial plan.

Gaining weight will depend more on overall diet. Just taking a weight gainer may not be enough to put you in a caloric surplus. You need to find out your maintenance calories and then add 300-500 calories on top of that number. That will be the total number of calories you will need to consume on a daily basis.

MAKE YOUR OWN:
Ingredients
2scoops Whey
2 cups whole milk
1 cup dry oats
1 banana
1-2 tbsp natural peanut butter (or any nut butter)
2-3 cups ice
I suggest either making your own gainer or if you need the convenience of a powder -> Nutrabolics MASSFUSION 2.0 , Animal MASS, Iforce Gainer, Core Nutritionals GROW
All these gainers use complex carbs and healthy fats

Nothing wrong with making your own gaibe, as long as you're counting your macros and ensuring you're eating in a caloric surplus.
I would also suggest supplement basics, see below.
Creatine - Platinum 100% Creatine
Protein - Nitro-Tech 100% Whey Gold
Multi - Platinum Multivitamin
Fish Oil - Platinum Fish Oil

Getting those calories up is the key. Unless you are tracking your calories, you won't know exactly what your taking in. You will be surprised to learn that you may not be getting as many calories as you think. If it's a lean gain you want, then you need to take some time to figure out what your maintenance calorie intake is and slowly add calories. Your gains won't be quick, but will be what your looking for. I'm definitely not a pro in this area, just sharing what works for me. There is plenty of information throughout these forums to read. Take some time and research for yourself. This will help you in many ways. Good luck!

I have a fast metabolism too. The best thing to do is to keep cardio at a minimum and eat lots of carbs and protein. Make sure you're in a caloric surplus (taking in more calories than you're burning). If you don't know what your maintenance is, eat a certain amount of calories for a week and see if you lose/gain/or maintain your weight. Once you figure out your maintenance level, then you eat 200-300 calories more than what you need. Within a few weeks, you should see yourself gaining weight! (Make sure you take into account extra calories burned).
Some high calorie foods include avocados, meats, soya products like tofu, cheese, cottage cheese, potatoes and chips. If you're struggling to gain weight, you can probably afford to eat a couple burgers and pizzas in the week but don't overload!
