Being born in 83 I can confirm the goatness. Miss the feels of not giving a crap about anything but rollerblading and sports.

But the real end was caused by social media. It's pretty much ruined the world by giving voices to losers. All the people that nobody ever gave a phuck about and had no social life, friends, etc now feel that they can come together to have a voice. That is why you have all these hipster ****ots protesting everywhere. They (the losers) came together through their new voice to voice their *******y opinions

It was an amazing time to be a child in Canada, I will say that.

Everything was way more innocent and unified in the culture.

There are obviously great things about the internet, but it has absolutely divided the culture. "Multiculturalism" has also been overwhelmingly negative.

Every time I think of my dad in the late 80s - making 90K a year in manufacturing with pretty much no skills, buying a home for 70K, I die a little inside. It'll take me a masters in engineering and a decade of experience to get a shot at the money he got by just ****ing around.

The gravy train dried up for him in 2000, and he makes a third now of what he did back then, not even factoring in inflation. We will likely never see that kind of GOATconomy again.

I know these feels. Currently doing an MSc in engineering, recently completed a BSc in engineering. Had zero job prospects after my BSc, and will likely have very few after my MSc. Will have rocket scientist skills and will make 50k per year to pay off an 800k mortgage.

I already know how you know. But the 70s were more a transition after the tumultuous (at the brink) 60s: a defining and settling in period particularly for minorities, women, etc. The 80s, saw a huge merging and acceptance of all those diverse cultures as most reflected in the music.
