Set aside anything political. There is something so intriguing about the 80's, maybe it's the innocence that seemed to pollinate the air - the sense of freedom and optimism that cascaded among the youth. What seemed to be the perfect evolution of technology which had not yet gotten to the point of intrusiveness - prior to a time where it melded your job and social life into the same medium. Technology seemed to synergize with humans, rather than render them obsolete. You could escape with whoever you wanted. The love of your life, your best friends, you could just go on an adventure and in that frame of time you belonged entirely to each other and nothing was obstructing those beautiful fleeting moments. Mystery seemed to emanate out of the world, everything was magical in its own right and most people just seemed happy to share a moment. Can you really emulate this in 2017? Technology has evolved to the point where it's no longer just a convenient addition - we have become enslaved to it. How often are you in the company of other people and they're (or you're) completely absorbed into that little world inside smart phones. I suppose the evolution of technology is beautiful within its own right, but it seems to be at the cost of some of the more endearing facets of life.
Sometimes I just get so exhausted with how non-stop and intrusive everything is these days, I wish I was born in a simpler era.

the 80's and 90's eras were GOAT. 911 hit and fked the world up. real talk. you put it quite perfectly though...times were simpler back then and us 80's babies can attest to that. If you never set a time to meet up with friends, or call someones house through a landline then you dont know the greatest feels eras. sorry. idk..its tough being early 30's age range now and thinking back on simpler times...but im greatful for being able to have lived it at least. These kids born in 95' dont really understand the same **** a kid born in 85' knows...some things overlap but its completely different.
i love that video you posted...it really seems so magical that it seems scripted and fake! theres actually an update video where 2 guysfrom the video go to that same gas station in like 2015 and its just cold an dreary, the people were wierd as fk. if i was given a vision of people in 2017 id be sorely dissapointed..id be like wow wtf i thought that was supposed ot be the future these people act like some L-7 LOSERS!

My uncle always tells me stories about the 80s, like how much easier it was to go out to a bar or club and go home with a chick. 90s too. 2000s are chit. These days it's like impossible unless you have money or fame. I feel like the 80s/90s was all just positive chit in general. The music movies just the lifestyle in general was so much different from today.

Every time I think of my dad in the late 80s - making 90K a year in manufacturing with pretty much no skills, buying a home for 70K, I die a little inside. It'll take me a masters in engineering and a decade of experience to get a shot at the money he got by just ****ing around.
The gravy train dried up for him in 2000, and he makes a third now of what he did back then, not even factoring in inflation. We will likely never see that kind of GOATconomy again.Last edited by FAPhaggot; 02-16-2017 at 01:25 AM.

For fashion the eighties were terrible. For music/bands it was the last of the true creative artist.

Pivotal times in history. Our turn was 9/11. After that, the whole world changed.

Yeah, life was simpler back in the day. Can't really say it was the best time to be in your prime though. I was just a kid in the 80s, so life was easier anyway.
Many factors contributed to the changes in the world, not just technology, but I agree with you on how it's taken over.
One of the major advantages of today is that getting around the world is a lot easier. That's pretty important to me.Last edited by krioro; 02-17-2017 at 01:53 AM.

Lol this. I was raised in Moscow in the 90s. Would not go back/10. The police and government were extremely corrupted. Non-whites were killed everywhere and the courts were always in the favor of neo-Nazi murders SMH.
I visited St. Petersburg and Moscow last summer, and they have developed A LOT. Felt much more modern than 20 years ago. Shame that the sanction put Russian people back... Russia could have been a great power if it didn't go against the West.
I guess in general, for Americans/Western Europeans, the 80s and 90s were much more enjoyable. For everyone else, definitely this century.

That's why its so insidious. On the surface everything appears normal. But in fact, we now live in a whole different world. A world that would have been intolerable previous to 9/11.
Two hundred years ago the founding Fathers wrote the Declaration of Independence. In it, they specified many categories that made for a corrupt government.
One such category was the King's ability to have someone thrown into prison without any reason or charges. That's why the Constitution specifies the right to a speedy trail, legal counsel and the right to know the charges (Amendments V, VI, VII, VIII).
Two hundred years after the Bill of Rights all that goes away. American citizens can once again be taken away and locked up without charges under indefinite detention. Just proclaim national security and no one would bat an eye.
A provision president Obama signed into law. I'd say we've come full circle, wouldn't you?🎥

I seriously wish I got to experience the 80's and/or 90's in my 20's.
Seemed like the perfect mix between technology and the simplicity of life.
Social media and cell phones have ruined us and I'm as guilty of it as anybody.
When you went out with your friends in those days you were simply GONE. no distractions whatsoever.
I got just a taste of that feeling before high school when cell phones became the norm in the mid 2000's.

Women, especially ugly- average women didn't have insurmountable standards back then and didn't have access to social media and have whiteknights boosting their egos, they only had access to the local guys in their town or city, not to mention they weren't brainwashed by feminism and toxic liberal ideas. An average 7/10 guy would've had the world in the palm of his hand.

Not bad. Russian people are actually decent. They were very fond of us, since we were under the same Communism thing. We fought with them and they helped us during war.
When I was in Russia, our family hanged out with Russians, Chinese, Vietnamese, and all sorts of non-whites such as those from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, etc. There weren't much racial tension and we lived in peace. Russians didn't mind minorities; as long as you speak Russian, work hard, and culturally fit in, you're as Russian as anyone else.
The 80s was very good. My parents did PhD in the 80s and the scholarship covered 5x the amount of expenses they needed monthly. USSR was also self-sufficient back then - they almost went toe-to-toe with the USA and Japan in terms of technology.
The post-Soviet era in the 90s was horrible. The government and the police were extremely corrupted. My parents lived in a college dorm, and from time to time, we had Omon, or the Russian "special forces" coming in taking whatever they like. You can't even sue them. And the neo-nazis. I remember I always had 2 weeks vacation in April from primary school because neo-nazis were marching. One of my Russian classmate (ethnically white, Russian) was stabbed to death, it was horrible.
The early 2000s under the rule of Putin saw another new era for Russia - the economy was booming again. But my parents said no thx jeff and they left.
I have a couple of Russian friends, and from what I've heard, the economy is very bad nowadays in Russia again, that's why they've left.
