Your issues with her can be summed up in two points.

1) She got her position based on her donations
2) She doesn't like public schools

To address both these points.

1 - You completely ignore her 25 year history in working to improve education in this country and her involvement in numerous organizations related to children's education. To say that she has no experience in this area is blatantly ignorant. Now you can disagree with her views, but that does not mean she does not have the experience necessary for the position.

2 - Why should she like public schools? Ever since the federal takeover of education starting in '65 with LBJ, followed by Carter establishing the Dept of Education in '79, Bush & Clinton's America 2000 education focus, Bush Jr.'s NCLB, and Obama's Common core, our youth continue to score lower compared to their foreign peers. Devos cares about students, not the current system that's designed to educate students that has failed miserably.

She's been essentially a lobbyist for charter schools using her family's wealth to influence Michigan's government. The charter schools in her state have been an abject failure. She is wholly unqualified no matter how you want to prop up her resume. Pure pay to play but enjoy what you get. Maybe she cares about the students but putting someone in charge of the public schools who has zero experience with them is beyond any reasoning other than she wanted the job and she's donates a lot of money to Republicans. Drain The Swamp! MAGA!
