If you're putting it under "you couldn't pay me enough..." I'd agree, but salaries, benefits, over time, details, etc, they do OK. But, we pay millions to some idiot kid to throw or catch a baseball and such, so priorities are still off in terms of benefits to society vs $ made.
Bottom line, if one gets into LE to live like a boss, probably not the career path for you...

Good money, pension, you don't have to learn much once you get established with the rules. Union, it's pretty hard to get fired.Plently of advancement and being able to move to another department streamlessly.
I would say it's a pretty good gig as long as you don't get hired to a ****ty location.Kindness is all that matters in life

I was giving a low estimate btw. Check this article http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/201...rned_110k.html

12 year LEO here. I like people. Really why I keep at it. I don't go out of my way to hurt someone. Let you dictate my response. It's my scene, but your actions determine your outcome. Works well for me as I have the gift of gab. Can talk with anyone. If you have 0 social skills, stay away. 90%of the job is verbal. Where it gets these officers in trouble. Can't talk to anyone

CMPD officer in training here. So far I love it. It's a definite change from what I was doing before (engineer). It's something new everyday, and you get to meet people from all walks of life. It's honestly like you're living in an episode of COPS. srs. I took a cut in pay to join the force. It's just something I've always wanted to do since I was a kid.

Props those who are genuinely trying to help maintain law and order etc. I could never do it myself. No $, huge danger, loss of respect etc. etc. General negative perception, increasing scrutiny etc. (maybe not a bad thing but can be tough when split second life or death decisions are scrutinized mercilessly after the fact).

If I did some green from the ages of 16-17, but stopped and haven't done it since then because I realized you couldn't to become a cop..am I screwed or nah? Would I have to lie on the polygraph test (that has been proven to be b.s), or tell them the truth, and risk not being hired?

Applied once as a LEO (living in The Netherlands). I f*cked up the sport test, didn't prepare at all and my legs started up cramping up the 4th round out of 5... Had to run the obstacle course in 3;08 min, due to my sh*tty prep I did it in 3;18... Got a 14/20 from the intelligency test tho, highest out of 70+ people.
I had to wait 6 months to re-apply again, re-applied last night, am already preparing for this for a long time. Hopefully I will succeed and make myself and family proud! LEO's over here make decent money, 1700-1800 euro / month without any bonuses + most expenses get paid.
Gonna hit the gym right now as in preparation, will rep all my fellow LEO brahs!Last edited by eystheticsbrah; 01-21-2017 at 01:07 AM.
