Yes. The floor press takes the leg drive out of the lift.

I have such a drastically reduced ROM that I'm stronger doing rep work on the floor. 1rm is pretty close, but still higher on a bench.

Same here. I can usually rep my bench max for 5 on a floor press.

it's really an individual kind of thing. I personally am way stronger through the middle/lockout of my bench stroke, and suck off the chest, therefore my floor press or any limited ROM (board press, spoto press, etc) bench variation is stronger than my competition bench. nothing wrong with your training i'd say, just a weakness you can work on possibly. that is a strong floor press tho.

I prefer to do concentric presses in a cage; never really understood the love for floor presses.

Taking the leg drive out of the lift makes it more challenging, where some may find it difficult to not drive with the legs when doing cage/pin presses.

Floor presses for me have no carry over without a 1-2 second pause at the bottom. Lots of the OG Westside guys advocate this heavily as a raw and equipped bench builder.

Agreed. That particular range of your bench is most likely not the weakest portion. That's my guess.

I alway use a bench top on the floor, so that my floor press is full ROM. This works best for me. We'd have to see video to give you definitive feedback, but most likely leg drive/setup/technique. Would be happy to look at the vid if you post, or send.
