Post 17 year old trying to get deadlift UP!

I'll make this short. Powerlifting guys are the smartest when it comes to deadlift straight up. So I want some experienced advice.

I started deadlifting 1 month ago and do a 4x5 with a couple warmup sets. I want to know the BEST way to approach the weight on my different sets. Right now it looks like:

    275x5
    285x5
    285x5
    285x5

I want to know if something like a pyramid is best for quick strength gains. I use semi sumo stance by the way. Suits me well.

    Appreciated

    deadlifts gains are so unpredictable

some people need high volume + tons of accessory work like deficit deads, rack/block pulls, etc
    some people need low volume
some people dont even train the deadlift yet hit PRs at competitions

just experiment and find what works for you. only disclaimer is that it's easy to get greedy and sacrifice form. once you recognize form breaking down, it's time to back off. deadlifts are the easiest exercise to end your lifting career on, IMO

Yeah thanks. I've been adding 10 pounds to my sets each week and it's been working well. I also ask people to form check me. There's a 5'10 180 dude at my gym who pulls like 650 and he said I was ok.

I think based on your numbers, getting on a proven program will be the best thing you could do right now for your deadlift. When choosing accessories, make sure you choose exercises that will strengthen the muscles needed for deadlifting. Lower back, hamstrings, glutes, hips, so on and so forth. GHR, Reverse hypers, etc. Squatting heavy also helps people's deadlift generally, so getting strong in general will make your deadlift shoot up for the most part. Good luck

TRy cycling your rep ranges and overall volume in general. volume= weightxrepsxsets ex. try doing a periodized program thats what i follow.

Powerlifting guys are usually 6ft+ guys who have chit genetics and know it so they compensate by lifting heavy weight with chit form and getting fat.

6'2" and fat club, checking in.

Not 100% sure what that has to do with dead lifting, but whatever.
