    Doing a workout mid fast

My question is on fasting. I'm wanting to give it a try and see how it works for me. I'm coming from the normal 6 meals a day into doing fasting for roughly 14 hours. My plan right now is as follows...

    Wake up - 6:00 am
    Gym - 8:30 am
    First meal - 12:30 pm
    Second meal - 2:30 pm
    Third meal - 5:30 pm
    Forth meal - 9:30 pm
    Bed - 11:00

I drink a shaker cup of water and a cup of coffee first thing in the morning. I take my pre workout and BCAA in the locker room. After the gym I drink a mini Gatorade for the sugar restores. I then drink a 0 calorie Monster Energy drink around 10:30. What do you guys think about this setup? Today is my first day of trying it so I haven't noticed any changes yet.

Its fine. When I used to do IF on the 16/8 schedule I would workout on a empty stomach / fasted. Only thing I consumed was black coffee , PWO, and tons of water to rid the hunger. I usually prefer to workout on an empty stomach anyways.

But just listen to your body. Some people need food to workout.

You seem to be quite confused as to what constitutes proper bodybuilding nutrition. Six meals a day is not 'normal,' and neither is 'fasting.' And neither plan is required to build muscle or to lose body fat.

    Why are you doing this?
    No brain, no gain.

"The fitness and nutrition world is a breeding ground for obsessive-compulsive behavior. The irony is that many of the things people worry about have no impact on results either way, and therefore aren't worth an ounce of concern."--Alan Aragon

Protein intake close to the workout is associated with better protein synthesis response. You can get away with this as a novice but it becomes far more important as you become more experienced and the PS window gets shorter.

I agree with the two above posts.

If you want to maximize protein synthesis levels throughout the day, which I assume you do when you want to build muscle, why would you fast anyway? Besides amino acids, there's also a benefit to take in carbs around training.
