I'm about 16 years old, I Bench Press 225 pounds, Squat 315, weigh 220, and I really need to get faster. I wanted to know a good number to be at for bench, squat, and deadlift and also my 40. I'm not cutting weight until I bench 255 or higher. I'm already stronger than a lot of players but I refuse to accept average strength. Yes I know, the teams weak don't mention it. Any workout tips for speed, increased bench, and squat will be greatly appreciated. I also wanted to Play Middle Linebacker. If you got any tips about reading fast please let me know. I'm 6'1 and I can see over the line. Please list specific workouts besides incline, flat bench, and dumbbell presses that will help. Any squat tips also. If you could be a hero and give me all these tips I will be a happy man.

Football Tips Please
I bench 225, squat 315, and power clean about 145 (working on form only have been doing it for a week or 2) and weigh about 220. I'm fairly fast but need to work on speed and overall strength. I have like 8 whole months to train before the season starts, and I want to play strong safety or outside linebacker. I would like tips for speed, linebacker reads, and strength workouts. If you think I am fit for a different position please let me know below. Also, be aware be physique is going to change in 8 months and I'll be a lot stronger and probably lighter. Thanks.

I know this is somewhat of a shameless plug, but you may want to check out our Blog. It's packed with training tips and a lot of it is specifically for football. It's way more info than I could possibly respond with here.
Also, if you want a workout plan, check out our online training team for football. If you want a free account, use the code 'football16'.PR Sports Performance

sign up for you HS's winter strength and conditioning program. It should be pretty much mandatory for all football players who aren't playing a winter sport. Now is the best time to work on max strength. Later (in the spring and then in summer to get ready for camp), you'll concentrate more on speed, functional football movements, and gpp.

College Potential?
This is the second post I've made so far. I am a Junior in high school, I bench 235, squat 325, and I'm not sure about my clean max. I'm at an ok speed but I just need to cut to be fast again because I'm on a bulk. My maxes go up very fast, and part of it may be because genetics but mostly hard work lol. I have two whole years left to train and right now, I'm stronger than most of the team (teams weak). I'm pretty good at reading and I'm looking to play outside linebacker. I'm going to cut when my strength goes up way more, but what you guys think? You think that with hard work I can go to college? I have Nearly two years left.

cut and bulk are words that should not be in a football players vocabulary. You train for strength and you eat to support it. If you just finished your junior season of football then you should have your HUDL highlight reel out in front of college coaches (head, position, GA's, etc), you should seriously consider attending a few combine camps, and you should be planing your spring camp season - get out there and be seen. You should also have registered with the NCAA (you will need to if you plan on targeting D1 or D2), and NAIA (if considering NAIA schools). Coaches look at skill and potential. Recruits should meet some of the following criteria (more if you think you're going to play D1).
1) Are you 6'3" or taller (genetics rule)
2) Are you 6'3" or taller and 285lbs and fast - D1 linemen
3) Did your father or siblings play D1 or NFL football?
4) Did your father and/or mother play college athletics?
5) What's your vertical jump?
6) What's your long jump?
7) What's your 40? (sometimes 20 for linemen, they also look at electronic splits for 10yrd)
8) How good is your schools football team and it's competition?
9) Did you start 2 or more years in football (multiple letter winner) ?
10) are you a multi-sport varsity athlete?
11) Are you all state? all conference? second team all something?
12) win a state title?
13) are you a team captain?
14) Injury history and who worked on you?
Even in D3 you'll find that the vast majority of football players either; lettered in multiple sports, were captains of their team, or all-something in football (academic, conference, district, city, state, etc).
As for strength, you're numbers are OK, see if you can't get 5 or 6 225lb reps by spring. There are lot's of opportunities to play football at the next level, most of which are in D2, D3, and NAIA schools. If you have delusions of D1 glamour then coaches should already be recruiting you hard.

Going to college is going to be based more on your academic ability versus how much ya bench.
The reality of college football is that many can play at a JUCO, NAIA or NCAA D3 level. Can you get into those NAIA or D3 schools academically? Don't know.
The reality is that people don't care about your lifting stats as much as they do your personal performance stats on the field and the performance of your team versus other good opponents. Being "pretty good" at stuff isn't typically what a college level coach is looking for regardless of level."I'm pretty sure your wrong, but care to elaborate..."

Enjoy it while it lasts, don't worry about the ending. It'll come back every year. Stay up to date with top100 NFL players of 2016 that releases all the way til summer camp. Keep up to date with a favorite team and their roster moves and whatnot a lot of stuff goes on in the off season that's related to football that can keep you sane.

Need To Pick Football Position
We have 7 more months to train, but I'm having difficulty choosing a football position. I bench about 245, squat 335 and deadlift about 325 (just started but it's already went up 50 lbs in 2 weeks) I weigh about 225 and I could probably bust a 5 flat 40. I'm going to cut when my bench gets to about 290 ish and my squat goes to about 425 and I know I can do that in 7 months time. And I'm going to cut to maybe 215 lbs after all those stats. What do you guys prefer I play? I'm 6'1 btw and I'm still growing😃

Have someone who's reasonably impartial look at your play and highlight your strengths and weaknesses. From that, along with your own preferences, should show where you might be successful. Apart from that, work on getting bigger, faster, stronger, and develop your football skills. No bulking or cutting (your young, so bulk). Work on developing strength now and then as late spring/early summer rolls around concentrate on power development and building the muscular endurance needed for football camp and the season. If you haven't already, sign up for track in the spring. Jumps, throws, or sprints are great for football.

Football please help athletes
I'm currently @205 pounds as of now. I squat 345 pounds (goes up insanely fast) like no joking around, Deadlift (low) @325 , and bench 225 (benched 265 before cut). I still have time to train. I play middle linebacker. I need to deadline more, and squat can get to 405 in literally no time (regaining old muscle since cut). What weight and strength levels might you suggest are good? I'm at 5'11-6'0 btw. And any athletes please give advice. I want to go to a d1 for college really bad. Also willing to dish out hits and will really hit anyone on the field.
