    Supplement help for beginniner-ish

The past year I've been finishing up in school and never really went to the gym, other than to teach my spin classes throughout the week. Now that I'm done with school, I'm trying to build muscle quickly and safely. I had a trainer a few years ago and I know the exercise routines; however, I don't know about supplements. I studied biochemistry for years and with that I research too much.

I know that people supplement NO supplements (technically arginine alpha-ketoglutarate) and it helps with working out; however, some research has indicated that it does no benefit or effect for working out. It claims to allow more blood flow to allow quicker recovery and increase lifting potential, but haven't seen anything in support of this.

I've also looked into Myo-X, a myostatin inhibitor that apparently lowers myostatin to increase muscle mass. The gym-goer in me says "heck yeah let's do it!" but the biochemist in me says "inhibiting an enzyme that prevents too much muscle growth is probably not the safest." Also, some others have said it did zero for them, while others swear that it jacked them up.

I was wondering if anyone would point me in directions, or suggest things that work? I am trying to achieve moderate gains within a few months and would like to possibly start supplementing.

Thank you all! Have a great day!

get a creatine, multi, fish oil and whey and make sure your diet is in check before you really worry about all the different supplements

Agreed. I would add make the creatine=monohydrate

Make the fish oil=HIGH EPA/DHA content.
    It's your diet.

Companies are still selling myostatin inhibitors? I'd avoid that scam. The key is diet. Use supplements to supplement your diet.

First and most importantly I'd lock down a diet/nutrition plan that fits within your goals. Meeting macros and staying in a caloric surplus is very important when attempting to build muscle.

As someone else mentioned, whey protein, creatine monohydrate, fish oil and a multivitamin are considered staple supplements.
