I'm sorry, but we can look elsewhere aside from Hundley for the future. He's had half a season and still looks like a lost puppy dog. This offense is awful.
May as well start Joe Callahan the second half. I don't think he can do much worse than 5/13 & 67 yards.

Somewhat ironic that all of this talk about Capers' impending dismissal as defensive coordinator (which is about 5 seasons overdue in my opinion) comes at a time when our championship window with our core roster has essentially been slammed shut.
This team just has holes all over the place. Offensive line is a complete mess in pass protection, the backup QB spot is a fiasco, our edge rushers are constantly injured and unreliable, and our corners just have terrible ball instincts and make-up speed in coverage.
These are issues that are not going to be properly addressed or corrected in just one off-season, we're looking at like a 3 year process to sure all those things up and that's if everything goes according to plan.
Meanwhile Rodgers is entering his mid 30's and guys like Nelson, Cobb, Matthews, and Burnett are rapidly on the decline with their best years of football in the rearview mirror.
Years from now this franchise is going to heavily regret all the time they wasted & years of those guys' careers that they squandered by letting Dom stick around for so long.

While they have wasted many years of Rodgers career, they are nowhere near closing the window on contending. Until Rodgers falls off if he is healthy they are always close to competing. A few solid picks, a few solid free agents and the packers are super bowl contenders

All joking aside, since it's always fun going back and forth with you. The packers were SB contenders at the beginning of this year even with their poverty defense. Without capers and with Rodgers back they will be again if he's health, as is any team with an elite QB.

Green Bay has not been a serious contender to win a championship for the last handful of seasons, they are the proverbial pretender. Do not delusion yourself into thinking they were simply because they can make an NFC Championship game here and there. They simply lacked the scheme and discipline defensively to play at a level necessary to even make a Super Bowl, let alone win one, and that was going to be no different this year.
This team is poorly assembled and poorly coached. The entire team is dependent upon one guy (and even then, they are not a championship team) and when he goes down, as we saw this season, it is game over. Major surgery is needed all-around & it's unfortunate that our front office and so much of our fanbase seem to think we can win a championship simply because we have Aaron Rodgers. We can't and we won't with that approach.

Happy New Years Packer brahs. Had to come on and express my excitement for TT finally stepping down, will always remember how he chose Allan Barbre with that 4th rounder the Raiders wanted for Randy Moss.
Oh yeah and that DC guy is gone too, Vic Fangio is being mentioned I hope that goes thru.~Aaron Rodgers Pornstache Crew~

It depends how you define contender. For playoffs--sure. There's only been a few times they really were a Super Bowl contender though. I don't consider a team that gets stomped in the NFCCG a SB contender just because they ended up making it a game away from it. Most the of Pack's playoff runs have been very anti-climactic.

Packers gave McCarthy a ONE-YEAR extension through 2019.
This makes it clear he is gone next season if things do not get turned around quickly. He might as well resign if Rodgers gets hurt again. Hopefully, for the fans sake, the new GM brings in a quarterback that is qualified to play in the CFL unlike Hundley.

Wut, isnt that literally the definition of being a superbowl contender with the obvious exception of actually making the superbowl.
It will be interesting who the go with for GM. We have multiple in-house options that seem to be well respected around the league but if we pick one over the other does that mean the others are all going to want to leave? I cant say how excited I am to get a new defensive staff. I would be pissed if we promote from the inside there but at least we wont have to watch the same old outdated Capers scheme.
It also sounds like they may shake up the offensive staff behind Mccarthy. Our WRs coach left for a college head coach job and they may demote Edgar Bennet back the WR coach. At least it looks like we are accepting what we have been doing isn't working.

That same team that stomped the packers in the NFCCG last year, the packers played to the last drive a few weeks before in the regular season....
The game got away from the packers quickly. A missed FG and a fumble on what likely would have been a TD drive on the first 2 drives, combined with a defense that wasn't stopping anything led to a crazy blow out. A whole bunch of missed ints by the CBs that game could have flipped points. It was the perfect storm.

So much is made of how the Packers receivers are so talented but they are blanketed in coverage and the quarterback has to thread a needle (Rodgers) to complete the pass. We sit there and watch other teams with a receiver running across the field alone on third and 15. Extremely frustrating and unfair to Rodgers.
Van Pelt looks like McCarthy's brother.
