Depending on the fracture location and characteristics, you can either plate it or use an intramedullary nail. Surgery will allow for earlier motion and weight bearing, which is in his favor. Athletes will have access to all of the good stuff, bone healing stimulators, etc. from the start. Still will be tough to come back from in a reasonable time frame to play this year.
I'm an ortho PA, I deal with this stuff every day.

That actually pissed me off on numerous levels. 1. Ty was still being typical 2017 Ty. It seems since he put on extra weight to fill in the role, he lost all shiftiness. Looks like Eddie did after he got fat. Straight into the back of the linemen for 2 yards. 2. Ty has broken ribs. Lets just pound him into the gruond like we did with Eddie last year 3. Aaron did good the game prior. Why not give him more carries.
