So they were living rent free with the relative I bought it from for YEARS
Its a two family house in a more expensive area so rent would probably be around 1700-2000 fair
This is the convo
ME: I am going to write up a year lease starting next month rent is going to be $1000.. After a year I am raising it to $1700. So I will give you the year paying $1000 to figure out if you are staying or to save up to move out
HIM: I dont have $1000 for next month
ME: You work, you had years of no rent to save
HIM: .....(nothing)
ME: its your call, I am offering under market rent for a year
HIM: This was unexpected so I need some time
ME: I will have the document for Monday .. Rent is due on December 7th
So its clear this is probably not going to work...
Just start the eviction process now?
Years of no rent I would have saved a bunch of money
BTW jobs of the people

so income is coming in.. But they have b.s like expensive cars and blow money on trips

I would not hesitate in evicting them if they plan to stay without paying rent. If they don't plan on paying rent evict them ASAP since it takes awhile for the eviction process. Also why the phuck did you close on a house with people living in it and they did not agree to pay rent or move out before the closing?

no kids
No contract or lease..
But if they had a lease it transfers to the next buyer anyways

good point not enough detail in the op.
In England you can buy a house with a sitting tenant. Even if they haven't paid any rent in years it can be a hassle to evict them though. If he needs time to think about 40% under market rate its probably just time to push the button2023 bertie awards 2024 nominations

House was to much for owner to upkeep
Tell me they want to sell house for 50% of value (amount owed)
I buy house
Owner moved out
freeloaders still in
House was such a good deal that I was /am not worried about them at the moment (money wise)
