I have a macbook and a Lenovo laptop and I much prefer my macbook. Dat touchpad, design, less chance of virus, and screen display are where it's at even if it's overpriced. I was told I needed a PC for engineering and it has never made any difference so far whether I'm using PC or Apple for anything

i'll stick with my dell for like $600-700 lol... HD touchscreen, i7 processor, 8-9 hours of battery life, 256 GB SSD, 8 GB RAM (or maybe 16. I ****ing forget. Either way it's fast as ****). backlit keyboard, a couple of USB-C ports, etc.

Only downside is the trackpad isn't great but I use a mouse.

Throw in 16GB of ram - $80.

Throw in a 250GB SSD - $80.

You are still under $500 and have a similar performance laptop to a $2000 MacBook.

I own a 2015 macbook because their build quality cant be beat and I needed one with good battery life that wouldnt break from traveling

OSX though is horrible (in my opinion, I'm sure some might disagree) so I've installed Windows 10 on it.

As an Apple fanboy, MacBooks lost their competitive advantage in the past 2 years or so, and I'm glad. Nowadays you can get any ultrabook with the same premium materials and sleek design that Apple formerly had cornered. That's the beauty of the free market boyos. The consumer always wins. i7 quad is pretty legit. It can run a bunch cpu hungry vst's (audio apps) plus my DAW without a hiccup. that said, no thanks apple.

Sure a lot of the apple fanboys are cucks, but for dev work etc it's much easier to run a *nix system, where macOS is like a really polished linux distro + macbooks have legit build quality and hold their value.

I've tried all the alternative "cheaper and better" windows brands. Dell, Razer, HP, Toshiba etc. They've all had crap reliability and issues at some point. Finally gonna jump on the MacBook train once I get rid of my terrible Razer Blade Stealth, supposedly a MacBook competitor (literally the worst computer I've ever had). You got to pay big money to get the reliability and customer service. That's what a lot of these Windows brands don't have

The Surface Studio is sorta a niche product for graphic design people. I'd personally prefer just building a better PC with a good monitor and using my Wacom tablet instead. I feel as though seeing the full picture and not having my hand/arm covering parts of the screen is better. Also just from normal use I can see tiny little scratches on the pad which with enough use would most likely end up showing up on the screen.
