I believe that the slow pussificiation process started about the same time as the whole PC and self-esteem movement did. There are several reasons why, Im sure , but a couple that I can think of include people, in general, not wanting to take personal responsibility for their actions and being afraid that taking a stand on whatever they do will "offend" someone. Im sure there are other good reasons......oh, and our world today is just too caught up on instant gratification, comfort, and convenience. Hard, tuff, honest work seems to be a thing of the past.

Many reasons and one of them is kids that grow up without a father or father figure in their lives or at least not enough time with a dad who has limited visitation. So, they only get half of the parenting process.

Solid rant, OP. This has been a pet peeve of a growing minority of men for a while. I think post #2 sums up the when and how pretty well.

I also think we've gotten lost in the race for equality. I think we should be looking to treat each other fairly and justly - not equally. Our differences have become hate speech, rather than strengths. Isn't great leadership knowing and acknowledging your strengths and weaknesses? How can we become the alpha society we're capable of if we're made to feel guilty for pointing them out? Most men are wired to be leaders, to take charge, to make tough decisions. And most women are wired to act on emotion - exercising temperance and patience. This isn't sexist - this is smart. My wife isn't oppressed. I take her advice very seriously when looking at long term decisions because of the way she is wired as a woman. However, when it comes to snap decisions that need to be made, she trusts my ability to lay emotion aside and act.

My wife and I are not your typical sitcom. I am not a fumbling Neanderthal and she is not a fun-robbing dictator. I am the captain of my family's ship and she's my first mate. The part feminists can't see is I accept that responsibility humbly with the understanding that if my family's future should ever fall off course and fail that I accept full responsibility for that - it's all on me.

There's a number of causes, some cultural, some physical (dropping T levels, etc), some just unclear. I don't have all the answers as to exactly why, but here's my advice for those confused "Pussifed men" looking to change it:

A couple reasons:

1) Most men don't have father figures in their lives to teach/pass along "manly" traits. My dad was in my life everyday and helped correct my bad behavior as I grew up, sometimes whipping it out of me when I deserved it (and it was a lot).

2) Most men have lost so much self-respect because they focus all their efforts on chasing women. They want to be around them, want women to like them, etc. They are so desperate, that in the process, they pick up the feminine traits.

I think they have the biggest influence on the men. I can only say from those that I have met but more and more stopped wanting the big strong man who wanted to make the decisions, and more and more liked the man that they could control.

I've seen the changes in 18 year olds for years as I see them each year at university. The type of girl coming into uni is strong and confident the boys definitely not so!

At the end of the day if they can be head strong why would they opt for a guy that might counter it.

The other night my older brother and his wife came to visit. My wife and I took them out for the evening last Friday.

My wife remarked at the young guys with "man-buns" and where had all the real men gone. Anytime my daughter is with us and my wife asks me to move something heavy she (my wife) comments to my daughter how handy it is to have a real man around. Our daughter dates only the hipster types.

Of course when my wife was commenting on the lack of real men, we were at a winery listening to a Jazz Trio. It was a fun night.
