I am nearing the end of my fat loss journey and went from 304lbs to currently 196lbs. I want to get down to 180lbs then work my way back up the scale in muscle (or lean out with muscle?).
I've never taken a pre-workout before and I have a few questions regarding this:
I sometimes have taken caffeine pills before a workout, is that the same as a pre-workout powder? Is this the same as creatine?
Are their any calories in pre-workout powder? I am still trying to lose fat, so I'm not sure if a powder will affect that? Also, should I wait till I get down to the 180lbs to start taking this?
I am currently taking 100% Whey protein after my workout.

Preworkouts have a bit more in then than just caffeine. Other ingredients to help promote mental focus, blood flow, and decrease fatigue in most preworkouts. Some pre's do have calories in them - read the profile on the label.
As long as you're eating in a calorie deficit, you will lose weight. Losing weight is all about dieting. A preworkout won't negatively affect your diet unless you're taking a preworkout that continues a bunch of carbs and those calories take you out of your daily deficit.Progressive overload + progressive eating = gains. Simple as that!

pre workout as said above gives great energy so u can lift more and even if it got calories u gona burn alot more with that intense energy .. they give pump n all listed above ..
some pre's have creatine in them
creatine increases muscle size n size increases strength .. it does it by holding lil bit more water in ur cells which increases the size of cell which increases muscle size which gives more power .. u feel stronger n more pumped it is indeed gr8 supplement

First off, big congrats OP on the weight loss. It takes alot of dedication and patience to lose that much weight so kudos to you 👏
As for your preworkout question, creatine is just a single ingredient that a preworkout may or may not contain. As for the calories in a pre, there's usually negligible amounts that I don't even count it. You can take a pre before a workout for extra energy/pump/focus so no need to wait til you lose more weight before using one. RSP Fast Fuel is a lower stim options you can start with that also contains a full bcaa profile as well. Energy, endurance and recovery all in one
And remember, a supplement is just that, a supplement. You don't NEED any but they can aid in performance, muscle growth and help hit your daily requirements as long as your diet is in check first.
Best of luck with your ongoing goals! Don't hesitate to pick our brains again if you have any other questions!☆☆☆ IG: @canadian.powerlifter ☆☆☆

Thank you all for sharing your knowledge.
It sure did take some dedication, determination, and persistence to pull this off! I am down 3 shirt sizes and 10 inches on my waist. I haven't seen these numbers on the scale since i was in probably the 5th grade! It feels f***ing fantastic!
Anyway, I ordered some of the Vintage Blast from Amazon and should arrive in a couple days.January 2016 - 304lbs | Current - 175lbs
