Rep values should be made private, just the green or red bars should visible on the open forum.
Users will be able to see their own rep value but other users can not. This will promote people repping for content and quality posts rather than the hopes of receiving return reps by repping some high rep miscers.
It will also stop high reppers from putting random low rep miscers in the red for laughs.
Also the first 5 negs should have zero impact on reps, so that new miscers have an automatic buffer from being turned red on their first few posts. At the end of the day it doesn't matter if trolls are red or not, cause they're gonna get banned. So turning new posters red really only hurts legitimate miscers who are just starting out.
Honestly though, I don't think new miscers give a **** about reps, and changes to the rep system will just piss off old miscers. I don't really think bb.com and it's the admins give a **** enough about the misc to implement any changes to the rep system since it makes no difference to them.

I try to excel in all aspects of life. I make a high salary so why not high reps?
haha actually I don't care that much but I like arguing for the sake of argument lmao
But a few of us don't get reps from rep trading. I've actually done cool chit. I got a LOT of reps for competing in my MMA fight last year and helping ppl out, competed in PL meets, used to be a supplement rep, donating, etc. Resetting it and punishing old members is a bit sillyish IMO.

dude u and i think alike a lot. I actually made a post long about saying this exact same thing. I was looking for the thread I said all this but its pretty much just what you're saying.
I talked about how in another forum i used to frequent prior to misc circa 2010, the rep power was located in your profile as well as the comments but you would basically see the people's usernames and whether they were green or red and the number was in their profile.
also, eventually the head moderator who was pretty interactive with everyone, he asked that members used their real names because he wanted to make it feel more communitylike...it didn't seem like there was a huge cause for concern with identity even tho a place like misc is different...but I did like that everyone got to know each other that way

Just ayy lmao at the idea of one day having everyone's real name out on the misc, it would probably be one of the biggest scandals on the net once people start combing their posting histories.
I have no doubts that there are at least some fairly important figures on the misc, be it celebrity, business, or political.

What I gathered from the rep system is that you have to basically fake it, be politically correct, or post something really really funny. Once you reach high reps you can now say whatever you want and not worry about reps.
Because if you post what is on your mind like I have tonight you get some high reppers neg you and that's it boyos. Especially if you only had like 500 rep power like I did.
Should reset all the reps and see what happens here lol!

being a bodybuilding forum about your bodies and yourselves, it's weird how we can create usernames concealing names and identities but if you choose to have your avis it has to be of you or your body in it...know what i'm saying?
most other forums don't have that rule that i know of especially if it just comes to discussion. I guess i understand how the rules are since i've been on here so long when it comes to frauding as well as identity because people have detectived as well as the fact that people are sensitive about their looks.
the other forum i went to was a martial arts community of decent size....and people from all over would post. the rules were similar here in regards to no porn, racism, etc. however cursing was allowed and most avis were just of people themselves or people they admired (not a big deal). when i first got here i thought the avi rule was kinda weird and now it seems everyone is behind enforcing it if its not legal to the rules here which is kinda weird....sometimes i want to say its not a big deal and ppl should post whoever they want or admire....fuk put up ronnie coleman if you want it'd probably make the threads more decorative considering most people who are ashamed of their bodies with no avis (hehe)

Interesting, because actually I was thinking that the hugely inflated rep powers are more akin to the huge inequalities in society where we see virtually all the wealth owned by an ever smaller percentage of the population.
I'm not saying everyone should have the same rep power, I'm saying there should be a balance between encouraging good posters and not having draconian punishments for minor infractions.2023 bertie awards 2024 nominations

Wait til you get to 15K+ boyo, all up from there. I get maybe 5-10 reps per day from people hoping for a rep back (srs)
I never used to rep/neg anyone, until I was like 8K reps or so. Then my thought process was 'may as well use them up because theyre wasted otherwise'
So everyday I will just empty my rep cannon #yolo
