Beyond the essentials (squat rack, dumbbells, barbell, adjustable bench, pullup bar, dip bars, etc).
What was your first fun (major) piece of equipment?
I currently have all the essentials, including a high/low pulley, plus extra things like resistance bands, chains, balance ball, pulley attachments, etc). I have neither the space nor the money for anything additional, but theoretically I'm thinking ~5 years down the line I'd like to have a smith press (since it's fairly close to the function of a leg press, chest press, row machine, etc, but all-in-one). I used to have a roman chair and a Powertec chest press, but for a few reasons (mostly space) I got rid of both. I'd like to hear what you prioritized as your first bigger (less necessary) purchase that took up a decent amount of space.

I remember years ago, I was so stoked to have a marcy smith machine, then I switched to a weider power rack. After selling them off, my parabody power rack was the first piece, it was sonewhat Frankensteined together over the years. I took the best condition pieces from other parabody power rack to make the current one I have. After the parabody, of course I got weights and dumbbells and racks. My next big pieces was a VKR, then multiple parabody smiths, which I eventually choose one, then a roman chair, then different benches: incline, utility, situp, etc. Most of my gym actually has been put together within the last year. I didn't even get a leg press till last christmas (the body solid) which is now switched to the parabody. My next pieces after the roman chair and benches was of course my paramount smith, then the cybex calf raise, then leg extension and cable crossover. Along the way with all these pieces of equipment I put in my basement, I've owned most of the powertec line of equipment new/old, a few pieces of other cybex and hammer, a couple selectorized, some hoist and new York barbell pieces, and a few other brands I can't remember the names too.
In my opinion I would take a leg press over a smith machine any day, if you have room and already have a squat rack.

After my rack my next and only other big purchase was my legend Lat pull down and low row and I've been finding ways to use it for a lot more then just those two exercises so it's added a lot more variety to my training. Eventually I want to add a legend leg extension/curl machine to have additional ways to train my legs other then squats and when I build a garage I want to add a functional trainer and the wife wants a rower and that'll finish off my gym.

Shhh.... Words would just ruin the moment. The Legendary moment.
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

A '57 Chevy 2-door sedan.

Some thoughts:
Monolift arms for sure. Just a rack addition so no extra space. I only use for squatting but BY FAR the best thing I've done.
I have a C2 rower, reverse hyper, and GHD. Each is very useful to me but depends on priorities.
Smith is versatile but they suck. Functional trainer is versatile and seems really good - now on my list.
Belt squat maybe and you get a nice low vertical pulley platform too.
Lat pulldown with low or mid row is decent and versatile
I'd like a good leg extension as I benefit from these - balances my quad development and prevents pulls (just my build) but I use my RH and the strap attachment (roller attachment gives me a leg curl option too so a RH is not a totally 1 trick pony for me).
A pure 1 trick pony, expensive from $$ and space would be a nice commercial leg press but I'd like to have one nonetheless.▪█─────█▪ Rogue Barbell Crew #27 ▪█─────█▪
