His trashbags were 6 feet high all over his livingroom/bedroom/shower/kitchen.
He slept on garbage bags.
The smell was suffocating.

We only found out because he had to move out.
And asked my family to help him clean, confessing it.
Otherwise he would've been fined a lot.

I'm going to start with cleaning my apartment.

Congrats on deciding to get clean man. Been there, done that, and trust me it's the best decision you'll ever make. Also, as chitty as a place you might have been in mentally etc, overcoming addiction gives you some insane mental strength like you never had before - you can then use that to fuel some real success in your life.

You might be surprised just how big a difference cleaning up the apartment makes to your mood and your recovery etc by the way. Firstly it'll be like a new place so you lose most of that attachment to old memories of getting high etc, secondly - the physical space around you usually correlates to your mental wellbeing. Messy apartment/house => equally messy mind. So once you get it cleaned up you'll feel a lot better.

It is not that bad, clean it up and please and I don't know why nobody has mentioned this.

Go get some stuff to hang up on the walls. A clock, some art, a map or something, a mirror. It will make your place more home-y. I have a good friend of mine that works all the time but has a nice place in a high rise with literally nothing on the walls and just a couch and a bed...decorate it a bit it will be good for you.
