lol exactly
My thoughts:
I thought the night was good until the last two matches didn't have a legit finish. I HATED that Balor won, but it was a good match. Cena's match was good, and the Diva's title match was good, except for Charlotte almost turning Sasha into a vegetable. I didn't like the Ambrose/Dolph match.

Brock always hits his suplexes without any support. Just look at him toss Cena around in his match vs Seth Rollins. Orton's just a lot taller (makes a difference) and probably wanted a softer landing.
Don't know if it was an accidental blow or Randy overkilled the blade. At the end of the day though everyone was talking about Brock, ya'll played right into Vince's hands.

couple thoughts, and was in attendance
-crowd will turn on finn at this rate with him getting thrown to the top so fast. they should be careful with this before they end up with another roman srs
-belt has more heat than eva marie
-nakamura's entrance on saturday was a thing of beauty. what a connection he has with the audience. this was really his weekend. at the same time joe's walkout was the perfect foil to it; simple and like he doesn't give a fuk compared to nakamura's lengthy (well done) rendition of his theme song with a violinist. joe's theme song is awesome in person sounds great on the big speakers.
bunch of other things but just to keep it short i was pretty thrown by the orton/brock ending. everyone was. surprised by the decisions made by those involved; why agree to that if you're orton. seemed to be very careful thru the match with his shoulder yet willing to let a guy elbow you for real? odd.
also either everyone is a better actor than i give them credit for or the ref/med team was not ready for that and did not know it was coming. especially the ref. he was looking brock right in the eyes saying things like "BE SMART HERE."

Rewatching Orton vs Lesnar made me wonder if the ending was indeed a shoot? I mean, not only does Orton legit look like he is sandbagging Brock on his suplexes, JBL even had to comment on it, since it was that obvious. Someone speculated it might have been to protect his shoulder. But I am not sure about this. Brock needed to use MORE power to get Orton over, and while not as spectacular as normal, the moment of impact actually seems harder. Perhaps Orton was trying to legit block them? I mean, Orton is one of the most unprofessional wrestlers ever, repeatedly losing his cool in the ring, blowing spots, or blaming others for blowing spots. Perhaps his "anger issues" came into play, and Brock said "Ok, I'll give you something to be angry about"? The whole match just seemed to not jive. I know Brock wrestles like this a lot, not letting guys get any momentum as per his character, but this looked really weird. Lesnar shutting down Reigns at WM looked less awkward then it did in this match. And it didn't make any sense for the match to end like that. Orton didn't need to be taken out to prove Lesnar is a monster. Its not like he need to be put over. If anything, it was Orton who needed to win this match. I've said for years that Orton needs the right opponent to carry him and make the match look good. He was in there with the wrong guy last night. Brock could care less if you look good. Fnck with his match, and you get laid out. I don't know.

I was listening to Jericho's podcast, and he had Bayley on. When she arrives on the main roster, she is TOTALLY taking over. She is going to be the most popular wrestler on whatever roster she is on. Just my opinion. But anyway, she said when she gets called up, she does not want to be put into a main event program. She wants to start from the bottom and organically work her way up. She says she will have to reintroduce her character to an audience that for the most part does not watch NXT, and she wants to earn it, get there slowly. Good idea. This is what they should have done with Balor.

as much as i like balor, i agree. Rocco said it earlier, basically they showed his cards too quick. balor is an incredible talent and deserving to be on top but you have to let it grow on new fans. let them soak it in. its only been a few weeks and he has beating 2 of the 3 shield members and is the champion. hopefully they dont pull a roman reigns on him and the crowd absolutely shreds him. doesnt help he has the most heel title ever.Buccaneers/Lightning/Rays/The U

Thing is, a guy like Balor shouldn't have the "struggle" road to glory like others should. For the casuals who don't watch NXT you have to present that he's something special. You can't have the longest reigning NXT champion constantly lose on the main roster like Sami did to build sympathy. Besides Rollins, he's the first former NXT champion who hasn't been initially booked to lose or pushed down the card.
While I wouldn't have shown the demon side yet, I understand they want those merch dollars so its whatever. But now Finn and Seth can have a program, with him only using the demon on special occasions like the Big 5 shows.
We all love a good underdog story like Rudy, but sometimes a high draft pick will perform in their rookie outings and show that they are a high draft pick for a reason.★★★AJ Lee Crew★★★ - Officer of Punk Destruction

i agree to an extent. a guy like balor deserves to be high on the radar. i just think in the first few weeks to be catapulted like that, you gotta be careful you dont pull a reigns with him. wwe fans do not like things forced on them. bluetista and reigns are the perfect examples of that.Buccaneers/Lightning/Rays/The U

it wouldnt be that bad if it didnt look exactly like all of the other belts. it's the womens title without the white trim. it got more heat than roman reigns last night. 10 minutes of that **** during the balor/rollins match. smh.

Da Meltz: "Obviously the idea was to get hardway blood. The elbow was designed to cut him open, and I don't know how badly [Orton] was hurt. Obviously he was selling and they were trying to work the idea that he was knocked out and they had to stop the match, and from what I can gather due to no one talking about anything going awry, that was probably close to what was supposed to happen, if not exactly what was supposed to happen... there was no doubt that [Lesnar] was looking to open him up."

They obviously teased that at the beginning of the show. No one has hit the top as fast as Balor just did. I think a short run as as face, followed by a heel-turn (likely with Bullet Club, a la AJ Styles) is in order.
I know it's unlikely, but maybe they use Balor Club to finally get Seth the face turn people have been expecting.
I'm really interested to see where they go with Finn though, starting tonight.Last edited by butteredtoast; 08-22-2016 at 09:32 AM.

This. People really need to stop defending Brock saying it was a blade when it's obvious what happened.
When he took off his gloves and started wailing on Orton I could tell immediately it was intentional and that it wasn't gonna end well. Even the crowd knew at that moment he hit Orton with the elbow.Follow my IG @kaseyx_music and listen to me on Spotify

I only seen the match, the spot once and did not get a close up of the shot last night, nor did I read anything on this board or elsewhere so thought it was a blade. It was the elbow now I know, but it was planned. Like the quote from Da Meltz said. Brock in no way was intentionally taking liberties with Orton lol. That is likely wishful thinking on those looking to put him in the hotseat with WWE. Doubt it was a case of bullying off the script, doubt he gets fined or suspended when he followed the script. Orton has balls.

Okay so I finished watching the Universal title match and Brock/Orton in its entirety. The Rollins/Balor match was good but it definitely wasn't match of the night. Also, I didn't enjoy the demon entrance as much as I usually do. That's the main roster for you. The main event sucked but man, was that finish brutal.

We'll probably find out more, but I think Brock was supposed to hardway Randy with that GnP. I don't know, and kind of doubt, they expected and wanted that much blood, but Brock clearly is allowed to get more blood involved in his matches, and at least 2-3x now it's been hardway, including when it's him vs. Taker or him vs. Reigns.

Damn, just watched the Lesnar/Orton match. 0% chance it was a blade. You can obviously tell the elbow that busted him, no way something like that was scripted. You could hear the pop when it made contact.

blading wouldve been a much safer option. letting brock do this because "he is a real fighter" is reckless in a time where concussions are such a worry they banned rollins "curbstomp" because of it. just careless thinking, imo.
