Kind of a weird question but I'm having a super tough time Googling this one. I've purchased a few coffee-style preworkouts that I could mix with milk and loved 'em. Great way to start the day. Problem is they are all ridiculously expensive. I'm not too sold on continuing to pay upwards of $40 for a little tub that barely lasts a few weeks. I think I can do better at home. Anyone here have any ideas as far as making your own milk-based PWO?
I looked into caffeine powder but found a bunch of articles talking about how concentrated and dangerous powdered caffeine is. I'd rather not wake up tired one morning and accidentally explode my heart because I used a teaspoon of pure caffeine in my morning mix. How about some kind of instant coffee mix + milk? Anyone know of any good combinations as far as milk and energy go?
I'm tempted to just say "screw it" and drink plain old milk in the mornings. But I do like the idea of getting an extra energy kick as a bonus.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I really appreciate all the input. My apologies if this question was in poor taste as I was basically just trying to figure out how to be a cheapskate on the PWO situation. Then I look around here and see reps responding to my question anyways. Thanks again all. I'll look into every one of your suggestions.
Anyways, I got onto the milk before working out thing after starting a slow bulk a few months ago. I burn quite a few calories throughout the week so one day I figured I would try a certain coffee-flavored PWO with milk instead of my usual water + fruity stuff or just lifting fasted first thing in the morning. You can throw vanilla whey or casein in your coffee, add instant coffee to whatever protein you choose, add instant coffee or moka pot coffee to milk, etc . The potential is endless.
As a coffee roaster, myself, I would just enjoy my morning coffee, then take whatever protein or supp I want before or after, but that's just me. I generally use stim free preworkout and coffee, as opposed to getting my stims from preworkouts. I'm just not willing to give up the joe.~ Roast Master, Resident Coffee Warlock~
