Elliptical Trainer Or Recumbent Bike For Cardio- Which One???
Guys, which one would you recommend for some one trying to lose major bodyfat? I'm 29 years old, 6'3" 270lbs and 20% bodyfat. My goal is to reach 8% bodyfat, so I'll be using be either machine quite a bit. So, what do you think???
The recumbent bike is pretty useless. I wouldn't call it a workout I'm i'm sitting down in a relaxed fashion. Ellipticals with the arm movement is great.
Originally posted by Millineum Man So, go with the Elliptical Trainer, right? The one I'm looking at only costs $200 and made by Keys Fitness. I tested it out at Academy Sports.
That's pretty cheap for an elliptical. Make sure its good quality and has a warranty and all that....
Hey Hotgymchic, I found a REALLY good deal on this Elliptical. It has a 275lbs weight limit, so I'll be Ok. I'm going to get the one that costs $350. Take a look... http://www.fitnessquest.com/scripts/...ink?src=FQ1109
Seems that the item in the link is going to a $600 machine. Am I losing it???
That being said, you might be better off joining a gym where they have a plethora of training equipment and more expensive machines. At least the one I belong to, the elipticals are $1200-1500 each
I think the bike is a start for someone who is really out of shape, but most people should be able to get on an eliptical trainer and not feel like they are gonna die. Eliptical is nice because of less stress, but i get nowhere near the workout i do when i head out for a normal run, or the ever so dreaded stairstep machine.
Sawastea, with 3 kids work and school, I just don't have the time to join a gym. I'm investing $1500-2000 in building my own home gym in my garage. I'm getting a good Power Rack(56.5L x 57W x 82.5H), 300lbs of Free Weights, F-I-D Bench, Adjustable Dumbbells, 260-270lbs of Standard Plates for the Dumbbells, Dip Station, Gym Flooring, Ab Wheel($4), Mirrors, and the Elliptical. Oh! If you click further, there are a bunch of Ellipticals ranging from $350-$600. The one that costs $600 is regularly $900, so it has to be of good quality. I went to Oshman's today to try the $350 one and it was pretty good!
