Only 6 weeks in but can you see the difference yet?
Hi I'm Jerry, age 50 and I'm only 6 weeks into the program and noticing good gains along with a fatter stomach too lol.. I'm eating much more so hope the stomach part slows down soon. I'm 50 and decided that change must start now.
I can tell a difference but CAN YOU?
Here are 2 photos, 6 weeks apart doing the shortcut to size program on bodybuiding.com.
BTW I have gained 9 lbs

I agree with both of you that 6 weeks is nothing but I kind of want to keep pics going so I can watch the changes over time. The gain of 9 lbs is what I am most proud of but fear its going to keep going and going lol. I dont really want to put in any cardio as of yet unless the belly doesnt start to shape up.
3/4 of an inch in my biceps so I'm excited and still very motivated.

I'm doing this program, and honestly didn't really start noticing physical changes until about last week, (just started week 9). That said, strength gains, through the roof. I did weight and BF% scans, at the start and 6 weeks in, put on a kilo and BF% went up, (0.3% but still up). I'd dropped cardio, and wasn't watching my diet as closely as I should have been those first 6 weeks, (plus goofing off on the weekends).
I've since added 4 HIIT sessions per week in, watching my macros, and the mirror is showing me more visible difference in the last 2 weeks than I saw in the 6 prior. I've also seen a few others say that they saw the most visible change in the last 4 weeks. For me, I'm going to go with, I'm just getting more focused on ensuring I'm doing everything I can to maximise my results, ie. making the sacrifices you know you need to, but ... kinda don't want to
Try and take your progress pics with the same lighting conditions, otherwise you'll not really be able to gauge, and I'd highly recommend putting the cardio in. It'll keep your BF under control.

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I'm definately seeing the weight gains but as you mentioned about the body fat this is also my biggest concern. I dont really think I'm going to worry with the cardio though just yet and take a look back at the end of the program.
Its good to hear (from you and the other poster) that the most notable difference came in the last phase which I am still 2 weeks away from starting.
Its my hopes to try and do the program 2 times in a row and then "cut" with another program. But heck, I'm just a newb getting started so I better make sure to stick this out and just keep going, going, going --- that's the main priority
BTW I have been eating very clean and doing my best with the correct calories, proteins, carbs, etc.
Thanks again.

This is the WRONG thing to do, never take progress pics after a pump, that will be a false impression. The point of taking progress pics is to SEE progress not FOOL yourself into seeing progress.
And stop lying to the guy, you can't see any increase in his after pics. I understand that people want to encourage one another, but you have to keep it real and constructive criticism is the best way.
He needs to continue training and eating, he can take as many pics as he wants, but he will not see much difference in too short of a time, it is all about consistency. On the list for Bannukah

Also, try to keep the pictures in the same lighting/distance. You get a better comparison when the pictures are more similar.
You can't help the hopeless.

Going to totally agree with bodyhard here. Take the photos cold, don't get a pump on.
Again I'll reiterate 'lighting conditions'.
I've attached a few photos of where I'm at to give you a gauge. Front and back
The photo on the left is at the start of S2Size, (83 kgs, 17.2% BF), the middle 6 weeks in, (84.5 kgs, 17.5% BF), the right, is 3 months prior to starting anything, (84kgs 23% BF).
The left photos aren't lit the same, they are darker on the left hand side, much more directional light coming from the right, so this shows up shadows, I look a lot more defined at the start of S2Size than I do 6 weeks in, judging by those photos. Now thats not what I was seeing in the mirror.
Now I was expecting to see.. you know differences, in that 6 weeks. The photos didn't show it, the tape measure didn't show it. Honestly I was pretty down about that. But being totally honest. Not paying attention to macros, still drinking on the weekends. So I used it as motivation to get it together, I'm training hard, at the gym 5am, busting a hump, to... LOOK THE SAME? No. Just no. So I've dropped alcohol, tracking my diet accurately, and I expect to see a difference between my S2Size start and S2Size end photos.
But the middle and right photos are lit pretty similarly, and there's a noticeable difference there, there is also 4 months between them. (doesn't help being a pasty white red head, tans show up definition so much more than my lily white skin )
Like yourself I'd picked the S2Size program and I've committed to completing it. I'd thought along the same lines as you, 'do it twice and cut'. But as Im reading more from the longer term forum posters here, I'm coming to realise that while I am totally enjoying S2Size and I think Jim Stoppani knows what he's talking about, I also think this program isn't optimal for where I'm at. So I think I'm going to give 5x5 a go for 12 weeks, and see how I progress with that.
