Hi misc.
I have been a corporate slave for about 6 years now and am reaching my breaking point. Life is so boring. All I do is work.
My life consists of commute, work, commute, then get home make dinner and I have an hour before bed. Where I can get in a crap workout or rot for abit before I rinse and repeat. I used to be aesthetic but my health has gone down the drain as a result of the work life. You can't even tell I lift anymore.
So basically misc I have saved money. What should I do wth it ? I'm sick of my time not being my own. I am nihilistic and have been for many years, what is the point of working a job I don't like for 80% of my life. What is the point...
And no I don't want to go travelling. What's the point of wasting all my money then getting back home with $0 in savings back to square one. That would be a one way ticket to a life sentence of the grind.
What also makes it hard is that my whole life friends and family have pushed me into doing this. Telling me "good work" when I get a 1% pay rise for all my hard work. Well **** that. My life is sapping away and all I have done is worked.
Any advice ? Perhaps life would have been better if I chose the tradie life... Would own my own business by now.

If pornstars have to pretend on camera that they enjoy taking 2 cocks in their ass just to earn a paycheck, then not sure why you can't handle your job.
But seriously, if you hate your job, use the Internet to look for another one instead of whining on an online forum to strangers who don't give a sh!t.47 year old guy; 5'5"

Go to Vegas bet it all on red
Srs though 30k isn't going to take you out of the rat race without luck
Start a business? Most fail
Drop 30k on a house and rent it out? Won't take you out of the rat race for a long time
Take 30k and flip a house? Repeat till out of rat race or broke and homeless
Invest in a business? Hope they don't fail
Find a job that doesn't suck the life out of you? Good luck
Move to Colombia South America turn your 30k into 92 million pesos
Or work your boring job and max out every possible retirement fund in hopes of cutting years off of when you can actually retire

First of all OP you have to accept that some amount of the grind is inevitable. But whether it's 10 years or 40 years depends on your dedication to getting out of it.
Since 30k is not even close to enough to think about getting a liveable income from, I'd use it as a down payment on an apartment (or pay off any debt if you have any). If you get 20% down on a property there exists a mortgage alternative which works drastically in your favour.
After that, open a Roth IRA if you haven't already and max it out every year. Also there exist life insurance products that allow you to accumulate investments tax free. Look into that.
Read about compounding interest.
Honestly I genuinely believe anyone with a half decent job can be done with the rat race within 15-20 years if they apply themselves srs
Edit: Btw OP, the grind is a lot more bearable when you have a solid plan to get out of it. When it seems like there is no hope, it's very depressing. Start now.Traditional Wetshaver Crew

What if I want a wife and kids ? Then I'll be stuck grinding another 30+ years right, with even less free time than I have now...
I think I should stop listening to the 4 hour work week every day. It is making me severely depressed.
And I feel like nobody likes their job. No matter what it is, it will get repetitive after a month tops. Everywhere I look I see zombies dead inside. Only fake happiness is seen. The state of humanity is sickening.
There has to be a better way to live. I need a way out of the 9-5 and I don't want to wait 50 years until I retire, and am too old to even do anything like travel

This is exactly what I went through my entire childhood. Parents and uncles and aunts need to stop brainwashing their kids to just go to college. I hate it. There really is no point in becoming a doctor or engineer if that's not what you wanna do. I don't care if I get "respected" by people because most of them aren't even going to do anything for me in my life. I've always wanted to learn Japanese and create music.

If you have good credit you can use $30k as a downpayment for a loan to buy a business. You can find businesses for sale on www.bizbuysell.com
