Need help with math: 48÷2(9+3) = ?

i think that specific division symbol (don't remember name) means that everything that follows it is in parentheses, which would make 2 correct

if it were written 48/2(9+3) you would be right

Where there is ambiguity you add parenthesis to only allow you to evaluate it in one way. This would be one example of one of those.

Instead of wasting your time with basic arithmetic written chittily maybe you should do something more productive like learn set theory, read a history book or fist yourself.

Thanks man, thats what I did. My friend did 48 / (12*2), and then 48/24 and said = 2, and I was like wtf?
