I get the feeling they would have been successful if they were truly serious about it. They did kill them all off in Tasmania but was that more conquering for land and killing them for attacking the aussies. It was a small area. When I see that they took the children away from the abos on the mainland it was only the half caste kids cause the Australians at that point considered them all to be Australians and a white person who abused their kid or didn't let them go to school would have the child taken from them as well. The best thing Australia should do with modern aborigines is cut the support and programs we have for them (which are a waste of tens of millions of dollars) and just leave them alone. They really struggle to integrate into modern Australia and our lifestyles clash like crazy. They have massive problems with diabetes from a diet with sugar in it and have colossal substance abuse problems, especially with alcohol. Should just give them more lands in rural Australia and leave them alone srs. It would improve their lives IMO

Hi.... 1st generation Aussie here, with Singapore/Indian background.

What I have found quite fascinating, is how the Indigenous communities in Australia versus India dealt with things, post-Colonialism.

In India, they kicked out the British approx 70 years ago. They are a thriving economy, with much culture, push for education and so on. Meanwhile here in Australia, the Abo's have always seemed deficient in these things. What is the "culture" of Aboriginals? Witchetee grub (some worm on a tree they eat), boomerangs, corroboree around a fire, didgereedoo, "dream-time"..... and a very high incarceration rate versus Caucasians etc. Not to mention, many of the youth are quite aggressive in public. I've been beaten up by a pack of them one time... they're cowards when they're alone.

I know I may sound racist here, but the what the heck? In India, they didn't blame being "disenfranchised", murdered in large numbers (this happened) etc as a means of constantly perpetuating White guilt. NO.... they got on with things. The stereotypical Indian family pushes for their children to get the best they can out of life, education, careers, fulfillment etc. Yet, I can't help but notice that with the stereotypical Aboriginal family... they are often broken (mother and father separated), living in putrid conditions, not caring where their kids are, drinking ridiculous amounts of alcohol, ALWAYS blaming others, and not bettering themselves for their own sake.

I wouldn't say they tried to genocide them. They certainly tried to breed them out though. Indigenous Australian genes are highly recessive when mixed with European genes. They figured that if all the children were stolen from their parents the race could be bred out within three to four generations.
