They really need to do something about these 6v1 gym battles. As soon as I put a pokemon in a gym he gets taken down no matter how strong he is.
Lick/bodyslam is still the best for attacking. Hyperbeam is better for defending. Bodyslam does more DPS also takes less charge time giving you more opportunities to dodge incoming attacks.

So I finally get enough candy to get a Gengar and boom, sucker punch.
I'd love for them to implement a move learning system, where you pay something like 20 candies or so, or dust, and you can change the quick move of the Pokemon. I understand RNG is part of the game, but it sucks to spend so much time on a Pokemon for him to be pretty much useless.*HTC* crew

late to this thread. is there any way to actually track pokemon now? or do I have to wander in a circle and hope to get lucky?

Braghs, GOIV for Android works pretty good. Dont think it uses data from the App, instead i think it scans your screen to calculate while in game. Can only do 1 mon at a time, but still better than manually plugging in

dps isnt the best benchmark to determine an optimal moveset given server lag, human errors/reflexes, etc. the difference between optimal and suboptimal is also extremely small. it's practically a difference between less than 10% between each. most people are just in general better off using one super powerful attack vs a "top dps" attack

After saving up 125 candies for a 98% dratini I ended up with steel wing/d pulse
He's at ~100cp right now, is it worth investing to take this guy into the 2k cp?
Or go no contact

Your dratitni is at 100cp or your dragonite? Seriously you people need to stop thinking their IV's are the most important thing about them LMAO
With the current gym battling system, the importance of IV's is basically non-existent, but sure go ahead and spend an extra 50k stardust on that ''perfect'' dragonite lol''And from what I've heard, nothing that is black is small. Except maybe your penis.'' - Dr. Gregory House

That's the point, who's to say the current gym system won't be revised later?
If it costs 125 candies all the same I'm gonna invest in the 90%+ even if it's a minimal difference
I have 650k stardust, 50k is a poverty amount for meLast edited by penamante; 08-13-2016 at 12:08 PM.

Agreed. I was thinking a tiered system might work. Lvl 1-10 can bring 6 mons, lvl 11-20 can bring 5, and players 21 and over can bring 4 mons to a gym fight. It would give people who grind for XP and level more reward for holding gyms, and more incentive to lower players to improve their toons and use strategy instead of just zerging with whatever top 6 you have
I'm several levels higher, and only ever seen 1 Snorlax in the wild (didn't catch), and zero Dragonite or Lapras. I think it's mostly just luck, or knowing where the nests are. I'm pretty rural, so I have to drive to town just to find anything decent.Last edited by IronCharles; 08-13-2016 at 12:11 PM.

This is Niantic we're talking about..
Also just to clarify: I'm not saying completely disregard IV's. I'm just saying it's ridiculous to pump 50k+ stardust into for example a 95% 200cp pokemon if you have a 80-85% 1K+ cp of the same pokemon lying around..
Besides, you should really look at the specific IV stats more so than the total IV% imo, as for example my snorlax is a 66% IV, but its IV's itself are :15/15/0 which is practically perfect as all stamina IV does is add a certain amount of HP to the pokemon (max 12 I heard) and as snorlax already has a crazy amount of HP itself, I'm not bothered about it.

Prestiging a gym with one of the OP mons on the bottom (Snorlax, Most water mons) is awful. They really need to fix.

This.
I'm going slow and only keeping and evolving 90%+ IV pokemon - however long that takes.
I had 10km eggs from 0-22 (Jynx and Eevee). I got another 10km yesterday, and one more today as I was walking the first 10km. They both popped, Omanyte with 30 candies (not bad), and a scyther which I already had. I desperately need a good gym defender from a 10km egg, lapras or snorlax damit. I feel like I'm the only one with no real rare pokemon.
Abra and Jiggly are gonna get the boot pretty soon. Nidoran looks promising.14-9 total correct guesses (1st place), 61% accurate - Lyon Gaultier Presents Euro 2012 Contest ||| 45-33 total correct guesses (4th place), 58% accurate - 2014 World Cup Pick Em' Giveaway by Lyon Gaultier

I keep guys in the high 80s too, low 80s if their CP is already high. if their CP is high and i have a lot of candies for that pokemon i have no problem evolving so I have another battler. candies for some of the guys are easy to come by.
i'm really frugal with the stardust though, especially when there's so many contradicting claims for what the best movesets are for some of them. i know ill have regrets if i use it, and then I get a better one or find out that move is actually not the best later on. only guy I feel safe with is my 93 Gyarados with Bite/Hydropump. not like I even need to use stardust to rape gyms with my crew lol. simply evolving and catch guys has given me more than a plethora of 1k CP+ battlers.

They are going to change the moves power again too no doubt. It's still retardedly unbalanced.
